I just updated, config files fine, cs:s runs fine. Guess I either got lucky or got te latest fixed update. I would be a little disappointed if DoD:S gets delayed but shit happens.
 
CS:S works as usual... same fps too...

didn't try other mods
 
CS and HL2 still don't work, they still crash at the loading screen.
 
The only problem I've had is where there's not too many people playing in the servers I go to. Hurray for once again not seeing any of the problems everyone else talks about. I rule.

And whoever said that HDR has nothing to do with maps... Shoot yourself.
 
Another problem :/

Well, i'm no longer getting gameinfo.txt is missing while attempting to load 3rd party mods (i.e dystopia, hidden:source, garry's mod, team fortress 2) - it loads the standard loading window, and after it dissapear its seems like it's loading for 3-4 sec', and then nothing, like i never loaded the mod, it stays in windows...

Also few more people said they have it with all HL2 related games (both official mods and 3rd party)

Yes, I'm having a similar situation as well. I think the best thing to do tonight is to just let Valve work on it and do something else.

Restart your computer. Worked for me. CS:S froze up on me as well. I restarted and now it works fine, with a slight bump in FPS.
 
Only thing that happened to me was All-Seeing Eye saying i uninstalled HL2: DM... i didn't, it is on my games list on Steam and i can play it... Weird!
 
They released a small quick patch and now my 3rd party mods work again without the gameinfo.txt problem.

Start hl2\hl2dm\CS:S again and see if it has to download anything before you play.

Dont say that you always want more FPS for an advantage plus look at his system he DESERVES more just for spending that much money!
 
Most monitors only refresh at a max of 85, and the hishest i've seen is 115 or somesuch. cl_showfps could be lieing and he would never know the difference :p
 
Yeah but 140 FPS is super fast anyway. The most I got was around 90...what i'm saying is that you really don't need more than like 70 .
 
Sounds like a fine update, well, will be. I've been hoping to see an update like this, in regards to all they've been doing on the Xbox..

Ahh, I'm SO glad to see that asterisk next to HDR in the advanced panel, was sweating my system would be seizing up.
 
I get a weird bug with this update.

When I first start a game of CS:S my ping reaches up to 400+ for a couple of minutes with minor lag. After the first couple of minutes my ping stablisers at what is normal (30 - 50) and the lag vanishes.

my css is runnin fine same fps as last time havent tried the mods yet
 
haha yea dystopia is totally messed up. Cyberspace has a giant null texture, thermal is wireframe, and horrible lag... although it is kind of fun to play in a funny way now :D

Also its getting annoying to see everybody that notices the problem to post immediately about it rather than contributing to the millions of threads of the same nature underneath.

wow everything looks great now. Plays like crap for me but looks great (I gotta put the settings back on dx8 if possible) am seeing stuff I haven't seen before during the stress test and ingame. Of course now I run at a constant 14-20 fps on the fx5200. Well I guess this is sources way of showing me the truth. Yes... yes I understand now my card sucks I know... I know I understand now. Really I do.

edit: mat_dxlevel 81 and mat_savechanges 1 \o/!
 
To the person who mentioned the white line going across their screen, I get that too in my third party R8HDR mod. [edit] looking further into it looks like a symptom of how the mod folders have been changed.

If your running it type mat_r8bloom 0 in the console or add to your autoexec.cfg file.

I love it here.

Anyway, yeah there isn't really a purpose in not opening steam seeing as you wont be able to play if you dont, and you can kind-of play if you do. I'm sure the mods are already on top of the updating, i hope...

To force DirectX level: type mat_dxlevel 80 in console or autoexec.cfg.

Mine refreshes at 100 =) and i have seen a diff in FPS i used to get 102 in the stress test 16X12 all on, now i only get 95 =/.
 
I think the 300 -> 140 drop was less of an "ohnoes, I'm losing out" post and more of a "what the hell just happened, that is a massive decrease in performance" post - which verifies what a lot of you are whinging about.

Wors update ever!

Created a game for myself in CSs cs_assault and the fps and chokelag is just impossible to even try play foryourself and online can i only forget about. Whatever they have done is just crazy css went from perfect playable to a crap beta css now.
 
W00t, I made it work...you have to run it in a window, not in fullscreen.
 
Personally, I'm seeing a huge jump in speed. cs_office never drops below 80fps on my machine, where before it could get as low as 40-50.
 
My fps have gone down. use to have a constant 85, but now it is dropping to 50 at graphic heavy scenes.
