Steam updating?

My steam has gone weird it wont let me log in and an updating box appears. Could this be a sign of the CSS beta or more simply a network problem?
 
steam forums went down a few mins ago too.

"Steam is currently experiencing network outages. The Forums are offline during this time."

I dont know what this may mean.
 
Maybe it means they're having bandwidth problems? ;)

It should be back online soon anyway so give it some time.
 
Yeah... they got some problems...
Or maybe they are FINALLY updating...
 
What if in the morning (their morning) they post saying that they got attacked and that it means (for some reason) they're pushing back the beta release "till it's ready" and Half-Life 2 for another few seasons ? :) :thumbs:
 
That Status hasn't been updated since before the servers went down.

By the way.... wonderful redesign of the site. It is very, very appealing. I love the professional look about it. Perfect.
 
halflifesource site isnt working too.i think its connected in some way with steampowered
 
4:40am in VALVe town so still a while to go :(

They are probably doing something with steam for the release of the HL2 content.
 
My guess is that they either:

A. Got hacked
B. Set the servers to update this early so they would not get slammed.
or
C. Someone is downloading the Paris Hilton video and the entire Bangbus collection all at the same time.

I am guessing B. The content servers are most likely updating, but this doesn't mean we will be able to play it. They might just be toying with us.
 
Seems like their resetting their content servers.. or there just going down.. Maybe cs:s is closer than we think, or maybe there just getting it ready before they go to bed lol.. 12 hours later
 
Someone pressed the big red button labled "do not press" on the steam servers :LOL:
 
When they should of been pressing the "Enable CS: Source" button...

Yeah, their... there... they're most likely adding HL2 content to the servers. Not a biggy, since we won't be playing it for at least a month.
 
My guess is that they're sending the HL2 content out to the servers, so we can download it later.

I've heard that it means they are having some updates to their games. Some patches. Possibly for CS:S.
 
No problems here logging into Steam... and all games are there including CS:Source beta, but it's the same as before "Coming Soon"
 
I started up my side of the computer and it wouldn't load steam. I looked for the icon, and it wouldn't load so I was like, "Ok, what the" and then I went to desktop and hit my STEAM icon..and it logged on very quickly..

I shut steam down cause tbh I don't need it for now. I'm waiting for CS:S..

Steam just really slows down my system memory. So unless I'm playing a game...I don't need it.

However I do keep restarting it, checking for CS:Source...

firstly, would just like to say dat i'm new 'ere but i grabbed CS:source beta yesterday fanks to me owning an ATI gfx card dat came wiv an HL2 voucher. aiii

(hmmm thats the end of my ali-g impressions haha)

just to confirm, can't connect to steam here in the UK (local time is 1 PM)

going to work shortly and not back till tonight so i aint too bothered if it aint out till then, sorry!! :)

check you all laters and if its out, have phun!

I see we have a wannabe cool guy. Let me give you some advice. Don't try too hard to be cool, it just makes you look stupid.

I've seen way to many people ACT like they're cool too hard, and it just made them look foolish.

I'm not flaming you or anything, just trying to give you a heads up.
