While it isn't quite a Steam seasonal sale, this weekend will see Valve host the largest "Free Weekend" event in the history of the platform. Starting at 10am PST on October 16th 2014, 10 big-name titles will be made available to play free of charge for duration of the weekend, during which the games will also feature "tremendous savings" should you want to purchase them for later play.

All of the games listed above have been gathered in "The Free Weekend Weekend" page. Hope you didn't have any plans for this weekend. Enjoy the sale!

I wish they did CoD: WaW, even if nobody plays online anymore. I loved that game.

Also, gg on the 7th TF2 anniversary.

Nothing special to be honest.

XCOM is already free now on Epicbundle.
Rest of the games are already going on sale once or twice every month.

I just got XCOM through the Golden Joysticks, and Payday 1 is free tomorrow, so I guess there's nothing else I'm really interested in. Really cool they got this many devs to do this, though.

Lucky me, I already have all those games !

No but seriously. The average Steam user doesn't have a lot of games to begin with. This is a great move done by Valve and the devs to introduce people to new games, and perhaps ransack their wallets.

by the way guys, all of these games together is worth £160 or $256! This is a BIG sale in my eyes! Even if you have already got them you might as well download them and send them to someone else!

110% sure it doesn't work like that. These games are free to play for the duration and you have to buy them to continue playing after the 48 hours are up.

That game isn't part of the free weekend, though. Which is why it wasn't mentioned.

I REALLY hope Blade Symphony gets more attention. It continued where Jedi Academy type combat left off. The only thing that keeps me from playing is it needs a lot of polish.
