I freely confess that I was only half serious, and half looking for an excuse to make a pun.

Her story doesn't look too good from here, and even though the truth is out of reach, "nobody is allowed to have an opinion until the verdict" is obvious bullshit.

Nevertheless, there is something to be said about the way people's doubts are constantly phrased in a misogynistic register. It's not that there's no reason to doubt her story (although personally I like money a lot and find it heals a lot of wounds), but more that people are so eager to do so, and in a certain way, too. Woo, gold-digger. Okay. Great. It's not like sexual harassment doesn't really happen (surprise: women often keep it secret, at least initially, out of fear, shame, or desire to maintain their position), and it would not be the first time someone famous has thought they were above the law. Furthermore, bringing a lawsuit isn't fun, or cheap. If her story is really that ludicrous it doesn't seem worth the effort just to make a quick buck. My jury's still out, although it might more accurately be described as apathetic.

The fact is there are gold-diggers in this world, many of them. And all the evidance that we have seems to point to the fact that she is a gold digging whore. If someone tries to rape you go to the ****ing police, don't go out and ask for 6 million dollars.

This is a serious thing. If she is in fact lying, as so many before her have done, she is ruing a person reputation and career (ok you can argue he has no career left, but whatever). This type of thing really pisses me off, and all to often these women never face any real consequences for what they did.

Does sexual harrasment and rape happen? Of course. But so do false accusations from gold digging whores out to make money by ruining someone's life. And we have a lot of evidance to make an assumption here of which it is.
