Come on guys, by personally attacking Gabe, nothing will be achieved. If you guys wonder, why he does not post here anymore, it just might be the name calling.

After the failed preload date, people have gone on a personal crusade againt Gabe. How do you think that makes one feel? Its not very mature and it does not come across well.

So they could not preload on time? The preload was static content. Nothing significant. There could be alot of reasons for it. Developing a game is a tedious process and sometimes things don't go as planned.

I know we all are angry at the missed dates. Give them a break. We all know that the game is going to be released when Valve thinks its ready to be released.

Either way this post is not to be considered as a personal attack on anyone. But just a suggestion that we can't help the situation by name calling Gabe. Looking forward to the game being released.

Agreed. A lot of the responses to the delays recently have been truly ridiculous.

Stop the bashing already. I remember why I rarely visit this particular forum anymore.

Agreed. Poor Gabe, busting his ass to get this game to the shelves. Respect people!
 
Same here, ill join u guys, the bashing is very uneccisary, they are all trying to do their best, they came from being gamers and they still want to make the best game ever, what would u like, complain about delays then complain about the bugs and why they couldnt get all of them with all the delays

OR

Complain about the delays, then rejoice at being such a bug free and being an amazing game?

Which one...
 
It's true that it's childish to do that kind of thing, but honestly do you really think Gabe takes it personally?

Doesn't really make a difference whether he does it or not, childish abuse and attacks are just.. not suitable.

The slighthest comment hurts people whether about their weight, nose, etc. They might laugh it off, but inside it still stings like a bee.
 
Consider all the mail they must get, its obvious to us that they do read and respond to the fans, think of all the idiotic death threats and stuff they must get, i know i couldnt handle it.

If they would call him an f***** **** ***** maybie not, but personal insults are personally so yes. so he got a weight issue, so what? no need for name calling.
 
yea the abuse should have been stoped along time ago, i think mods should stricter, the attitude of many ppl here sucks

i doubt he even comes to this forum anymore after all our behaviour in the past. people say our complaints aren't heard by valve when we voice them, yet when we make fun of them, those are? you assume too much, notice he doesn't post here anymore, he posts at hl2fallout.

Come on, we have all seen the way some people react, theres always some upset 10 year old waiting to virtual snipe somone with there hotmail account! its beyond geeky, its just plain sad.

I think its ok the call Gabe names... it happens to everyone. You can call me a 12 year old or whatever but I don't care. I can call Gabe a huge monkey f***in f*** if I wanted. At the end he still is going to release the game.

no actually it does. valve's history of missed release dates is a joke. jokes are funny so we make fun.

now insulting them out of hate sucks. and i disagree with that.

but a lot of us are just lightly making fun, nothing serious.

You don't know that. But then again, I don't know that he is affected by the name calling. But I think it's best to stop this now just in case he is, rather than have it continue and risk hurting Gabe.
 
it takes a lot of guts to post of forums and to sift thru the spam the hate mail and the positive stuff.. i m sure thats why marc laidlaw only lurks cause if he posted everyone would flame him..

this company kicks ass cause they care about quality games not shipping games on time..


quite frankly i don't mind if they delay another year. that just means cool things will come out..

gabe is a kind man and he has a billion things to do than just post you know..


plus people who say that retailers don't know anymore than we. that just ignorance man. just because they don't communicate to us doesn't mean they don't know.. and they may know and don't have to post the right bloody date. cause there is alot of stuff required to do when it goes gold..

example even though sims 2 went gold maxis is STILL working their asses off

it takes a strong mind to respect and it takes a weak mind to flame.
 
Why always Gabe, Gabe, Gabe Newell .....Gabe?
The are many other people artists programers involved in this development. I'm tired of hearing Gabe this Gabe that. He's not the only one making this game.

You're right, but he's the only one being directly made fun of on such a large scale.
 
I dont really care if Gabe is fat, I think he is cool and I'd love to meet him. A part of my soul dies everytime i hear "Yea that sucks.. and Gabe is fat lolololol" on this forum.
 
I agree, gabe is a nice guy and im sure he and the valve team are trying as hard as they can to get half-life 2 out as fast as they can while still maintaining its quality. He doesn't deserve peoples insults.
 
and the community doesnt deserve to be jerked around with release dates. both that fact, and insults to gabe are of equal importance.
 
The only reason (I think) people are flaming him (and a couple of other ppl) is because they give out false dates... at least thats why I flame Valve generally.

Actually, I've seen some extremely offensive posts directed at Gabe on HL2Fallout where Gabe regularly posts. A few that have been much worse than anything I've seen anywhere else.

Either way, this is the internet, and there's never a shortage of morons out there. But we've gotta give Valve a little more credit here. Sure it's childish and down right rude that some people choose to make some of these comments, but I'm pretty sure the people at valve know better than to take the overly dramatic opinions of a bunch of raging 12 year olds to heart.

Bottom line is, yes the comments should stop, but no they aren't going to. We should just take comfort in knowing that the people that these comments are directed at are smart enough to know that the comments come from a small minority of people on these forums and are generally useless rants by people who should not be taken seriously.
 
Gabe posts at HL2fallout because that site is perdy. :O
