well it seems things are getting outta handlately with bush paying off "journalists" that a few senators thought it might be time to pass a law to prevent it from happening again

here's the latest bush pay off

"The Department of Health and Human Services said Friday that a third conservative columnist was paid to assist in promoting a Bush administration policy. Columnist Mike McManus received $10,000 to train marriage counselors as part of the agency's initiative promoting marriage to build strong families, said Wade Horn, assistant secretary for children and families."

hmmmm if only they could conclusively prove that bush is actually the one pulling the strings at Fox"news"

I'm confused. Are they saying he paid them to actually train them, as in give them their education, or to train them to say things they might not normally? As in, coerce.

I think what they're saying is he paid to train them which sort of coerced them in the act of doing so.

He paid McManus to train people in marriage according to Bush's guidelines ..in other words he pushed an agenda of "let's keep the family heterosexual, no to same sex marriage"

Theres tonnes of politicians around the world who do that or even worse...

But you admit that it's still bad, right?

Let's cut the BS for once and just express wether you agree or disagree with this bill.

I agree with it. Someone has to take these f***ers on. Its about time someone aggressively pursues this crap.

Who wouldn't agree with this? It transends party lines. Definately support this.

I agree with stopping things like paying people to support legislature. But I'm thinking this could stop any rallying spirit if a WW3 ever broke out.

I'm not saying something like "CONFORM OR YOU ARE UNAMERICAN" But I mean an example like the WW2 posters. "Give 'em hell boys!" "Conserve Gas" "Loose lips sink ships" etc. There should be a clause for military motivation posters if, god forbid, anything like that happens again.

Those were just government endoresments of their own policies though, so that wouldnt be affected anyhow.

Well, isn't that what paying someone to publically endorse your policy essentially is- no child left behind act, too?

no, you see.. with the "war bonds" posters, the government bought the paper, printed them, stuck them everywhere.

the problem, is the government giving cash to an authorative, non government figure (eg, a "journalist") in order to rally favourable support for something.

I'd assume they contracted the printers, and the space to put posters. There was money spent somewhere- and that's the point.

Nothing was wrong with that type of thing, it's good and everyone agrees, I'm just saying, wording needs to be careful so if in instances like that, some asshat doesn't come around and go "I find that motivational poster from the government for our boys offensive. It's propoganda and illegal. I'll sue and win because of bad wording in a law"
