Strange console readouts

Whe I load any amp and watch the process in the console, half Life 2 seems to randomly detect wrong cpu frequencys. Ive seen 8.4 ghz and 6.7 etc. etc., rarely it gets it right but could this cause any performance problem?

I doubt it has anything to do with how the game runs, it'll just recommend your settings differently. It'll still run whatever YOU set.

I have been getting wrong clock speeds 50% of the time. What kind of cpu do u have? I have an AMD Athlon 64 3500+. (2.2 GHz) I have gotten 2.4, 3.1, 3.4, 7.1, and others I don't recall.

I have dual 1.8 processors and it always says i have dual 1.2's. On my brother's 2.4 processor, the console can say anywhere between 1.0 to 5.0. It's really glytchy and i don't think it means anything at all

I wonder how it determines what clock speed to show the cpu clocked at.

Yeah, because your system KNOWS what it truly is, mine's running at 3.14 ghz, while HL2 determines it as 3.06 or something... Which isn't correct, but at least it's steady.
