I have this problem that when I play HL2, the graphics are way too dark. It is impossible to play. I have found a way to fix it but it takes too long, and I'm sick of doing it every time I play HL2. I found that first I have to lower the game's resolution from 1024x768 down to 800x600. Then I hit the windows key to go back to windows, then I go back to HL2. Then, I set the resolution back up to 1024x768. Next, I hit the windows key again to go back to windows. This time however, the screen flickers really bad and I can see the HL2 menu flicker in out. I then go into my ATI options and change the desktop gamma to a suitable level, and then the Full Screen 3D gamma to a suitable level. I go back into HL2, and voila, its bright and playable. I have no idea how or why this works. My question: is there a way to fix this so it is automatically bright enough when I first load up HL2? It gets really annoying doing this every time I want to play HL2, and as you can see, its pretty time consuming. I already have all the upated drivers and everything. Any help is appreciated.
