Strange Issue With DirectX 7.0

I've decided to use DirectX 7 due to my not so great computer, but the thing is that I recieve this odd graphical display when I turn it on:

If I were to move closer to those white specks that you see in the picture they are actually white X's that are displayed with every light source in the map.

Is there a way to remove these with a certain command or would my best bet be to switch back to DirectX8? There quite distracting at times.

I have a GeForce 4 Ti 4400 128mb.

Not sure if that is DX8 or not...

It's a dx8 card. Play in dx8 mode. I don't know anything about it, but I would theorize you get those graphical errors because your card isn't meant to do things in dx7 mode.

I got the same problem.. I got a Radeon 9200 128 mb... dx8.1 supported! But I get 35 fps on the stresstest with dx8.1 and 101 fps with dx7!

So if anyone know how to fix those graphic errors I would be grateful

Probably not fixable at all actually. I hate to break the news to ya, but you have a cheap card. You can't expect much performance on a brand new game with it. And I don't know how you can stand playing in dx7 mode, as ugly as it is. There are older games that are better looking.

I play games for the gameplay... not graphics so it dont bother me

sereously man you wouldnt believe the diffrence you get from a decent graphics card listen to the man hes trying to help. thats like saying i dont mind covering my car in cows cack aslong as it goes 20mph faster ya just dont do it

its also about what you appreciate in life and how your economic situation looks like

At the advanced command line use the -dxlevel 70 command.
(80 for the DX8.0 rendering path, 81 for the DX8.1 rendering path, and 90 for the DX9.0 rendering path. I highly recommend not trying to force a DX rendering path that's greater than supported at the maximum by your graphics card!)
A GeForce 4 Ti or Radeon 9xxx series graphics card should be able to fall back in the DX7 renderer path without any visual artifacts or frame-rate performance issues as their graphics architecture is as backwards compaible as it needs to be.

I usually play in 8.1 mode and I get 46 fps is the stress test (with settings on medium, no af or aa) and when I change it to 7.0 I only get a performance boost of like 10 fps, why is this?

Whoa.. why would you do that? My 9700 Pro plays in DX9 mode and gets nearly 60fps in stress test, no need to go allllll the way back to ugly ville. At most either of those would go back to 8.1, but certainly no reason to go further back. I believe the geforce 4 ti can't do dx9 mode as it's a dx 8 card.
