It has been a very long while since i touched fighting games, so I decided to start the arcade mode with easy computers.

I proceeded to struggle as I nubbed it past the first few opponents, but when I got to viper, I wanted to rip my hairs out.

EASY COMPUTER. I am not sure capcom understands this term, as viper proceeded to juggle, chain attacks, counter, and block with utter precision for half my health with no chance to attack in most attempts.

I must have restarted at least half a dozen times, and I still cant get past it! I know as I hardly ever touch fighting games that I am an utter novice, but this is EASY COMPUTER, why the **** am I getting demolished and juggled for 3 moves? Is viper ridiculously overpowered? Is easy computer utterly shittily balanced?

I guess Capcom wants you to earn beating the game. You'll just have to step up your game, son. Practice makes perfect.

Keep starting the game from the beginning; try to perfect a few moves. Learn an effective combo.

Yea, I get that I'm no pro, but I'm complaining that the easy computer is pulling off moves that shouldn't ever be considered within the "easy" difficulty's computers ability.

I don't know if you remember the old SF2 arcades and how bastard hard they could be (get SF2 on Mame and see) and they are just continuing with that route. Yes easy may still be hard, but put up the difficulty to hard then see how much easier the easy mode is.

You've just got to learn the specials and the timing of when they should be used, as well as heavy kick a lot.

I find it refreshing that a game can beat me so easily sometimes, makes a change of all the other fighting games like Tekken and Soul Calibur 4 which I could walk through with my eyes closed using one move.

EASY COMPUTER.

If that's too difficult for you at the moment then play on the easiest difficulty instead until you feel you can step up to easy again. I recommend going into challenge mode and doing a couple of normal trials (perhaps the first three) to get your execution up and you should also try to incorporate some of the combos you learn there into your game. Practise makes perfect.

heavy kick a lot.

I wouldn't advise learning to use heavy kick a lot since you'll just have to unlearn it later on when you get better since it's not very effective.

Yeah everyone's like that at first. The fastest way to learn SF4 is to play against other people and watch how they kick your ass.

It's extremely effective against the computer, which is what he's trying to beat.

If all he wants is to beat the computer then just pick Zangief and use nothing but lariat.

I can't wait for this game to come in the post. I want to share in the rage. However hard it is, I can't imagine it being as laughable as SF2 used to be in the old days with Blanka and M. Bison at low health. Growing up playing against that sort of onslaught turned me into a complete turtle.

In other news, the world needs more Brian Blessed avatars.

I had the same problem when I started playing SF4. Just start by doing all the challenges.

On other news. Just received my Mad Catz Street Fighter Fight Stick. \o/

You are going to hate Seth.

I had to wait like months to get this mad catz stick... And now to my joy I found it to be broken... One of the buttons doesn't work... **** I'm lucky :D

I was the same, timekiller. But now (albeit after a couple months) I can whip through the hardest difficult with ease (okay, maybe a few restarts). One of the best skills is learning where and when to block. Are they going to attack? Block. Take the chip damage instead of eating it all. Then after their move, attack on their recovery time.

I could type out a long, long post, but really it would serve little since playing the game is how you learn.

Street Fighter 4 was really stupid. I rented it for a few days and didn't like it. Go back and play the PS2 Mortal Kombats and you'll have a lot more fun

Pick Zangief and spam the spinning lariat. You can win on the hardest difficulty using this method, without losing a round. Also works well online if you can learn a few other of his moves.

I ended up winning like 100 fights in a row on Xbox live using Zangief.

People like you are the reason I'm staying off windows live with SF4, I'm not that great anyway without being beat by a crappy cheap move :p

Spinning lariat is like the easiest move to counter. Especially if you have a char with long range abilities. Just wait for the right moment and bam hit 'em with a fireball. The first thing to try to master is blocking (including throws). Especially to know when to block low or high, is the character going over you and you'll need to change the block etc.

I love lariat spamming players online. Easiest to beat, imo. I smile whenever someone picks Zangief because nine times out of ten that's all they're going to be doing.

Yea, I get im no adept at this game, but like I said, I expect the EASY difficulty to be... well god damned easy!

Eh, I'm still waiting on my fightpad to arrive. Trying to play this game with a Saitek X52 joystick is stupid hard and I refuse to play fighting games with my keyboard. :p

cpu on all difficulty eats up j.hk > sweep all the time... if you're a shoto at least.

when i had this game, the zangiefs i played seem to be getting smarter. i played some that actually had pretty good rushdown and completely locked me down. although in my defense, i mained abel, and that's probably the worst matchup in the game between all characters.

I spam jump+spinning piledriver with the red cyclone myself, but I'm a freak.

Arcade mode is really hard for me too, I've only finished it on medium setting once with Ken. (Ultra combo finish on Seth, 'twas glorious). Hell, I could barely get it finished on Very Easy with El Fuerte.

You'll need the patience of a saint but you'll crack it eventually.

Abel vs. Blanka is much harder /o\

I love Abel, but his lack of decent anti-air or anything to blast out of a knock down makes it hard to beat someone who knows what they're doing.

If you ever face a Gief, just pick Sagat and TS spam.

I cannot defeat the EASY COMPUTER.
I am truley sorry for your lots.
You are going to hate Seth.
Indeed.

Street Fighter 4 was really stupid.

PS2 Mortal Kombat...fun
May you live always with the screech of insects buzzing within your skull, ants gnawing at your eyeballs forever and ever.

Live is full of shit players. This was made even more evident to me after attending a SF4 tourney in LA last Friday.

crappy cheap move
No such thing as cheap, learn to adapt or cry some more.

Abel vs. Blanka
Gonna walk that road a long time...

This is a fighter, if something is working over and over against another person, then why not keep doing it? Exploit their weaknesses.

If they're bad at teching throws, throw more. if they don't see a particular setup even after the 3rd time, keep doing it. play to win, do what works.

There's always such a thing as cheap when talking about beat em ups.

I'm bad at fighters so instead of learning how to minimize my character's openings and exploit my opponent's, I'm going to cry 'cheap' in an attempt to save face
Decipheredchar.

Decipheredchar.

I never said I was up to your level now did I, which means for me, and other players that are not up to your standard of beat-em-up overlordyness some moves are cheap because we inexperienced players cannot defend against them. Hence, cheap moves.

Maybe one day when I attain a level somewhere near your almighty brilliance I can agree with you. Until then, the game has cheap moves. :p :D

The reason Zangief spammers win..... hairy shins. Same with Blanka.

My favorite character: C.Viper. She's weak but fast. If you can combo her moves together, it's pretty devastating.

You have the wrong mentality when playing a fighter game then. Instead of thinking "He's only winning because he uses cheap moves!" you should start thinking along the lines of "How can I punish this guy for using this move all the time?" and try to improve your game. You don't have to be as good as Darkside presumably is to think like that.

Seth is where its at for combos.

I was kidding (hence the smiley faces), I know I need to improve but at the moment, to me and people like me, there are cheap moves, especially when your opponent clearly has nothing else up their sleeve other than hammering this move that you have not yet learnt how to deal with just so they can increase their battle score. That's what I'm saying, I was just having a laugh, sorry if it came across as anything other than that.

By the way, get a shave :p :D

Not being experienced enough to defend against a more experienced opponent does not make the game cheap at all. Your opponent may be cheap for not going a little easy on you, but it's not the games fault at all.

Did I not just say that?

Yes, I did.

So the use of the move by a cheap person using it cheaply makes it a cheap move in that circumstance, does it not? :)

I don't even know why I'm debating this to be honest, I've not yet come across any people using a move I couldn't fight against yet in my time on Windows Live, I've only been beaten by better players. So I'll shut up now.

Honestly, if it keeps working against you, then what reason would they have to stop? It's on you to figure out the counters. Don't keep playing into their strategies.

I agree, can just be infuriating to new players.

Kisze got it right, but just to add to his post, you need to completely do away with the idea of "cheap moves," or the idea that "this guy only knows how to do one thing so he's spamming it constantly!" If your opponent really does only have one tactic and you learn to break it, their entire game falls apart. It's easy to note these kinds of players and beat them.

More often though, like some people in this thread have been saying, if you present an opening that allows an opponent to hit you with a certain move/combo over and over again, there's no reason for them to stop using it. Of course it can be frustrating, but that's the heart of fighting games--developing a tactic or series of tactics in order to defeat your opponent, and your opponent finding counters for said tactics.

The sooner you get rid of the idea that certain tactics are "cheap," the more you'll fall into the mindset of, "Okay, he did this and it beat me. What can I do that will stop that? What can I do to prevent that? What can I do to punish him afterward?"

I beat Arcade on medium with Ryu last night! I'm so proud, which shows how lame I am at this game. D:

Love it though.
