Story.

As Capcom's media event gets started overseas, the company has already dropped one spectacularly major, but long awaited, announcement by revealing Street Fighter IV is currently in development. Capcom's community website has been counting down for over a week now, as gamers have speculated over what could be such a big deal.

This should be really interesting. I can't wait to see what in the world the deal is with this one!! 3D? Stylized? Looks very cool so far (if that is how it indeed will look)!!

If it's 3d I will kill an old lady with a Tiger Uppercut.

Fingers and toes crossed.

I would love the new SF to be on a 2d plane, and play just like a 2d game but with 3d character and background. Especially because then apart from looking much better the animation will be a shit load smoother, I just hate the animation of the 2 street fighter games

That's probably more to do with the fact that SF games are almost 10 years old now. HD 2D SF4 (I don't even need words!) with more frames of animation would be godly.

That would be frickin PERFECT!!

Uh, Warbie...Street Fighter's 20 years old, bro. Not ten.

Man, the teaser's making me dream up a completely new vision of Street Fighter. The combos and strikes their pulling, and the way Ken counters being thrown...I'd love to see something new and innovative like that in the series. I would actually like to see the series move forward rather than stay in the same place it's been since 87. Going full 3D would be nice, as well.

I'm rather curious why Ryu isn't bearded and graying at the temples, though. I was hoping that in Street Fighter 4 we'd have seen him after/during his training with Oro, on the path to becoming the strongest fighter ever.

Depends. Rival Schools and Maximum Impact are good examples of fighters following a 2D gameplay philosophy in 3D. Really well-executed. As well, I may be one of the only people in history to like Street Fighter EX. It wasn't anything special but it wasn't bad, either.

I will always hold a special section of my gamer's heart reserved for the 2D fighter, but I think after SF3 it's time to break into something new. Especially with the teaser looking like it did, in its 3D glory, I'd love to see them go for that angle. I'd love to see new mechanics in a Street Fighter game.

Hmm, yes, they could go for the SSBB style which kick some major ace. I wouldn't mind something like that at all, but definitle want something drastically new!!

Uh, SSBB style would be taking it TOO far. In the wrong direction. :p

I'm thinking more along the lines of mixing a technical 3D fighter with the fast pace of Street Fighter (fast paced when you're not counting those damn turtlers who think it's an excellent strategy to block and poke). Street Fighter has always been an accessible game, but it's very technical when you get into high level play, with people measuring ticks and exploiting the system in various ways.

Really it's that throw counter in the teaser that has me hyped up, even though it's just a video and may not have anything to do with the actual game. But if it were...man.

Would that the game were highly stylized like the teaser as well. That'd be very nice.

If the trailer is any indiciation at ALL of the style they're using for the game, then this will be severely awesome.

Me want.

I haven't played a new SF game since, oh, EX+A way back in the day. And I loved that. But the best is still 2.

Anyway, looks awesome and I can't wait for more news! :D

win?

Udon's redraw of SF2.

Also, you can always tell SF3 from SF2 because of the sketchiness of the SF3 style. Also, Ryu would have spikey hair and his posture's different. Their gis would be torn around the shoulders, too.

And that stage isn't in SF3. Ryu's stage in SF3 has you on top of the temple.

I played that back in the day on the sega genesis, I loved that game! They're also sticking to original art format of the game, looks awesome. :)

They're gonna make me buy the same bloody game for the 10th bloody time!

Milked dry :(

Street Fighter 4 just began development, Capcom said today. Won't be out for another year. No platforms announced.
