stress test pink problem

Do you experience this when playing CS:S ?

Not just stress test.

Does your monitor show all the correct colours ?

If it plays smoothly, and your monitor is OK, then you have a very unusual problem.

PLS give as much info as you can.......

When i play normally this does not happen i have a monitor ( Philips 150c 15" monitor ) capable of diaplaying 32 bit color at 1024 x 768, i have all settings set to full except shadows ( my comp hates shadows) with water reflection on simple reflection.

BTW ima from scotland too w00t

IIRC, this happens when your graphics card doesn't support direct X 9 in hardware.

uh huh well the FX 5200 supports Direct X 9 and this happens only in the strees test no other maps.

Hi,

First Post :)

I get the same exact problem and I also have a FX5200 along with 2.7ghz Celeron, 768 RAM. I think it may have something to do with the Direct X Level 8 we are forced to use. I never use to get that pink water until they made us take the 8.0 Path. I dont see that Pinkish color on Aztec or Chateau

uh huh thanks turned of AF and it worked thanks :p

that's what the problem is.... AF. If you change AF settings while the game is started, you will see this as well, on some cards. Usually a simple restart of the game will fix the issue, but not always. The issue is actually with DX9.

your card IS NOT DX9 hardware...but DX9 compatible hardware. The Nvidia GPU's, until the NV40, actually emulate DX9, and read the code backwards, as they do not have as many "slots" to recieve information as DX9 requires. 3 short, actually. This is part of the reason that the game behaves better on ATI hardware, as they DO have the required # of registers. Not surprising, tho, as it was ATI that designed/submitted the D3D component that is currently used in Dx9.

I dont really care it runs fine for me 50-75 fps with everything on full no shadows though.

this has happened to me beofre, you need to change your reflection options. i think simple reflections works fine, but reflect world doesnt. dont remember, i fixed this months ago.

that used to happen on my fx 5200pci...no idea why

it happens now on the gf6800 (little pink X's everywhere) when i change settings and don't reboot the game before running the stress test...

try re-booting the game and see if that doesn't fix it...tho tbh if you have an agp slot on your mb there is no excuse for the fx5200 cards - just get a cheap readon or something...

I have had this before with my 9800XT. Just set it to reflect world, not reflect all.

I have an ati AIW 9700 pro.

This bug happened to me when switching AA modes. To get rid of it, i have to reboot CS:S. It retains the new setting, but it's just a minor annoyance. I haven't experienced it in game, only in the stress test. Of course, i've only changed the AA settings for the stress test....i'm sure Valve will get a patch for it out sometime.
