stuck in highway 17

WTF?!?

I am at the part where there's a large bridge with a force field. Every time I get near it the game ends:

Freeman terminated: Failure to preserve mission critical resources.

?!?!?! I mean I had to ditch the buggy on the way up the mountain because those ball (mine) things were all over me, but why I am getting this error? The only thing I remember that I DIDN'T do along the way was activate all those Combine devices on the beach area.

Then you have to race down the tracks towards the oncoming train. Use the turbo boost. When there's an opening on the left, drive off the tracks into the space, just before you collide with the train.

im at the first bridge with the force field and there is no train. i kill everyone but how do i get teh force field off to get my buggy by?

You need to go under the bridge to the far side and turn off the field. Go behind the houses and you'll see a path leading down the cliff.

If you are facing the way the bridge travels (so it is directly to your left), walk straight up to the edge of the cliff, you should be to the left of that huge house. Now look down and to your left - there is a path underneath the bridge, follow it to the end, turn off the switch, and come back to the house, grab your buggie, and go across the bridge (Takes much longer than what it seems...).

i see no path from either side of the bridge. ive really looked hard, used suit zoom from either side to study it. nothing. i just got the crossbow. walked across. messed up a couple dudes. then a few more. there is a house & a garage and a combine vehicle charging. and then a lil shack that has a danger high voltage sign do not enter, that you cant go inside. i see no path to go underneath anything.

Walk over to the right hand side i.e to the right of the buidings and go forward. You should see a path curving down the cliffheading left when you get to the edge.

see i dont have houses before i get to the bridge. i get to a road arounda curve, in front of me is a hill witha tree on it where the crossbow is. on the road is a bunch of cars and a fuel tanker cracked in half. then across the bridge AFTER the forcefield is a house and a garage and a shack, where i kill a bunch of combine forces. i dunno where the heck i am. but there is definitely no path under the brdige

Just by the bridge is some houses. To get to them you followed a curve in the road. Basically walk forward to the water the bridge takes you over (your facing same direction as bridge) and move along to the right until you find the path on the cliff. Isn't too hard to spot.

Maybe you can post a screenie and we can make sure your where we think you are?

Ah, I see the problem. Your at the wrong bridge The above is a bit further down the road. Can't remember offhand where to turn this off. It will either be a button or a power line connecting to the forcefield you can disconnect though if you can't drive around it.

ahhh i figurted it out. i used the gravity gun to blow the combine vehicle off the wire. i had thrown grenades under it earlier but they hadnt budged it. damn. finally.

Look at the top right of the force field. You should see a wire overhead. Follow it and you will come to an APC. At the back of the APC are chocks (Yellow/black striped). Knock them out with the manipulator gun, the APC will roll away from the wire and the feild will go down
