Stuck in the room w/steele doors shut

Can anyone give me a hint about this room?
It is the point in the game where you have to destroy the 3 generators that power the huge weapon on the roof. I have destroyed all of the autoguns and now I can run about the room freely, but now none of the doors open and there is no other apparent way to leave the room.
Any help would be appreciated...

Is it the room with holes in the walls and the guards are shooting inwards?

Grab those bouncing mines with your gravity gun and place one next to each door. Eventually the guards will cut through and receive a nice surprise.

I avoided all the lasers, maybe thats how you need to do it.
