Where I work a company went bust and all there stock got liquidated into the Logistics company for the dept they owed. I've been assigned to look through the stock to see what's useful and what's not. I came across some nice 21" LCD HP F2105 monitors. I thought I might as well ask if I can buy one and they said I could have it for ?100 ($180-200). I picked the one that looked the least used (by the looks of it hadn't even been removed from the packaging) thinking that it must have the least wrong with it. I also tested it before buying it just to see if it'd turn on and not overheat. I couldn't really check for dead/stuck pixels as it was wrapped in cellophane and the stand, when released, is a bitch to get back in the box. It works fine but I've just noticed it has 2 stuck pixels, if that's the correct term to use. Basically they both display Red and Blue but not Green, so on a Green background they display as Black. I've tried a program called UndeadPixel which displays all three colours in quick succession but it didn't work. I looked up on the net and found some other methods like tapping the screen with a thin object or pushing it in then turning the monitor off and on again. They didn't do anything but I'll proably make it worst by doing this over again. It'd be nice to get them working again if possible as they're near the middle area of the screen but it doesn't matter if I can't as I was taking a chance buying it anyway. Are they're any better methods to try?

Tried those methods and nothing worked. :/ Guess I'm stuck with it.

Shake the screen like an etch-a-sketch.

Why hello there (45, 160) and (150, 97)! Good to see you both this fine day!

I don't know if you two realize it, but my life wouldn't be complete without you. Don't ever change. You two are my rocks! Without that constant stability my life would surely crumble!

I mean sure, my screen would be fully visible and I'd be able to see things without your presence always being there, but I've grown adjusted to that! I need that in my life now. Anything different just wouldn't be... well, it just wouldn't be right.

I love you guys.

I can't ****ing stand specks on my screen. It bugs the shit out of me, especially when looking at porn, as it's usually like a mole on der face. :cat:

****it. Buy a brand new one, and return this one to them saying it came like that. However, you have to check for some kind of stickers on the monitor, if so, you'd have to swap the part of the case with the stickers as they are probably tamper proof. You only have to do that if there is some kind of serial number and, depending on where you got it from, the date of manufacture could be an issue if they check on that sort of thing, but probably not. Serial must match retail box unit came in, if it has a serial label on the box.

Assuming there isn't a security measure blocking the screws, but probably not, since it's just a monitor.

Haha, this is why I'm still using a CRT screen. I might be blind in ten years, but at least I will have been playing unspeckled! \0/

I know this sounds kinda bad but trust me, it has worked very well even when Jscreenfix hasn't. Its not my own innovation but it called something like the "message" technique. I found the best way to do this is to grab a pencil with a nice full eraser and start applying pressure directly on top of the stuck pixel and continuouly apply more and more pressure in a wax on wax off sort of fashion ie. small circles. (You should be able to see all the wierd magical colors underneath if your pressing hard enough and yes it takes quite a bit of pressure). If applying pressure directly on top of the pixel doesn't fix it, try moving the pressure around and away from the pixel until you notice the stuck pixel either fading or completely gone. (If there is a area that is working better than others try to concentrate in that area). The stuck pixel might come back after you worked it out so you might have to "rinse and repeat." This method has worked all the time for me although I've only performed this method on 3 or so monitors. After your done clean off your monitor and it should be just like new (the eraser should not hurt it) and although I've never ruined a monitor this way I take no responsibility and perform at your own risk.

I have tried something similar to that but I didn't want to push to hard incase I made it worst. I'll give the eraser method a try though.

Whenever i get a stuck pixel on my monitor i just rub it with my finger till it goes away, it's always the same damn pixel in the middle.
