Stuck under bridge

Im stuck, on the bit where you have to climb accross under the bridge, on "highway 17", when you get to the otherside, there is a gunship that you have to shootdown, and then im not sure what to do, because, i can see up onto the bridge but cant access it, the room i am in is the one with the control panel, that says bridge inaccessable, and its flashing red, when i go back down the stairs more combine have appeared but im unsure of what to do next?? been stuck on this bit for days now, please someone help, im sure you dont need a screenie, because, i have described it quite well!

uh... maybe you could try going to the other side of the bridge?

so you go accross the bridge and then you have to go all the way back accross it again, to where you came from and got off the buggy????

kill the combine...shoot the helicopter thingy down with rockets and make your way back across the bridge...tada!!

Just got back and get the rockets that were littered across the bridge shoot the helicopter then ya... get back to buggy and meet your doom

You have to go across the bridge to deactivate the shield stopping you getting across the bridge on the buggy.

Did ANYBODY actually try and cross the bridge before going underneath it? I have no idea what that button does. It probably turns off a force field thing, or lowers the bridge, or gets rid of some obstruction.

I love how we automatically go towards the solution to the problem, without even knowing the problem before hand.

yeah, there's a good supply of rockets and shed to hide in about midway across under the bridge.
as for jumping the force field on the bridge, there's really not much nearby in the way of building materials. er... that's if i'm thinkin' about the right part.
