Well after the latest source engine release with the ep2 sdk etc, modelcompiler.exe in the sourcesdk/bin folder has vanished...

And when put back again, it wont work. This is (i think) because of that release.

Any ideas on how to fix it ? Any suggestions more then welcome...

The one that was in sourcesdk\bin was moved to sourcesdk\bin\ep1\bin, atleast I think it was. The EP2 version just doesn't work anyway.

Yeey got canonfodders tools working again last night.

StudioCompiler broken again.

giving me a "Unable to find Gameinfo.txt" error
It worked 2 days ago, dont know that the **** has been updated.
It's already in the ep1/bin folder, "-engine -ep1" already added to the launch option for source sdk.

Anyone having the some problem?

YEEY finally got it back to work.
Aparantly it need a gameinfo.txt in the ep1/bin folder itself to run.
Just copy/past the one from half-life 2/hl2 folder and voila! Somehow the latest update removed it or something, whatever!
cheers

not for me, still have an error. worse, I see no gameinfo.text in half-life 2/hl2

I believe I fixed it by copying all DLLs from episode 1's file in the sdk to the orange box file in the SDK. Decompiler works at least. So far no luck on th studio program.

What does the error say?
Also, use the ep1 engine for modding. StudioCompiler won't work with Orangebox bin, atleast as far as i know.
Just copy/paste studiocompiler to the sourcesdk/bin/ep1/bin/ folder and add the "-engine ep1" without the quotes to the launch parameters for sourcesdk inside steam.

Make sure there's a gameinfo.txt inside that same ep1/bin/ folder. If not, copy/past the one from the half-life 2/hl2/ folder. To be sure, try open the modelviewer and leave it active before opening studiocompiler. Good Luck!!!

cheers
