Great examples of how we are all influenced and dont even realize it. The guy's name is Derren Brown and he debunks mediums and just likes ****in with people.
Alright the dog tracks and paper one seem like total bullshit, but these videos..especially the chess and advertising are pretty well thought out so check em out..tell me what you think.

You wish it was real? The paying with paper one..I dont know if I buy that but everything else there looks legit to me. Of course, its on Tv so I can only assume...but the chess one was well thought out.

The chess one is real for sure, I know that... But the betting one is so blatantly fake I just couldn't bother trying to believe it. Every time he did it he banged on the window pane and said the same lines "this is the dog you're looking for... blahblahba"

Yea those 2 probably arent, I dont see how anyone could be stupid enough to do something like that. I guess I shouldnt have posted those since those are the most unbelievable hes done..but heres a question, if the chess one is real then how in the hell did he come up with the numbers at the beginning? Im gonna leave those in my OP but I do agree, that it seems so damn fake...but if were gonna call that one fake then we might as well say the chess one is fake too.

A lot of that stuff isnt fake. People use that dog track trick all the time. When I was a cashier at Sears they had us take training to know when someone is trying it on us. Its not like they're tricking the person's mind, its just that the person gets flustered because they're broken out of their normal routine, and the pressure on them applied by the person waiting and forcibly telling them that they're wrong is enough for the person working the register to just panic and say "Oh yeah, you're right."

It obviously doesnt work on everyone, it needs a certain kind of personality to have the effect, but then, most cashiers arnt really that alert while doing their monotonous jobs.

Krynn, you just reminded me of this clip from penn and teller bullshit:

I can see what you're saying, but when someone hands you a slip of paper as if they are paying you for something..I just dont see how someone could be that stupid. Or maybe they were just too timid to say anything at first, until they realized they got burned.

The point is to get their attention off what they're doing. You get them to suddenly think about many different things that are unrelated to the transaction, and they just do their job by feel, while thinking about what you're saying.

Have you ever been in a rush and done something that you dont remember doing? I know a couple girls who talk on the phone while driving somewhere, and when they get there, they dont even remember the drive. Once you're familiar enough with something and it becomes a natural, and thoughtless process, then you can do it while your attention is focused on something else.

Its not a matter of stupidity, its just something that happens naturally in our lives, and can be taken advantage of by others who are good at misdirection. Same as any magic trick.

Hm yea good point, I guess I could see it but I still have this feeling I'd get my ****in ass beaten trying to hand someone a piece of paper for food. But then again, hes a magician so hes used to lying his ass off.
