Do you guys ever get these? You'll just be sitting there doing whatever, and for like a second and a half you'll just shudder as if cold or something, even though you're quite comfortable.

I figured it was just something everybody had happen to them all the time, though I kind of doubt it now.

What typically causes something like that, do any of you know? I always used to get stupid explanations as a kid... things like "ghosts travelling through your body" and shit. Never any serious explanation of why it might happen.

For me, it feels great, it might be a illusion or me being delusional, but it feels like I get a short boost of energy when I get the random shivers. I rather enjoy it. I even got as far as doing it voluntarily because it feels so great

I know what you mean about doing it voluntarily. I mean, it isn't really a positive feeling for me, but I can replicate the shiver quite easily. When it happens though regularly it's entirely involuntarily. Like a twitch.

It's when someone walks over your grave.

How a time in the future can correspond with a single set time in the past causes the mind to boggle.

It's the wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff Reg.

Happens to me occasionally. This also seems to be my reaction to the sound of metal scraping against metal.

Not fingernails on a blackboard?

i get them when I pee sometimes...it causes me to lose control of my pee stream on occasion.

Fingernails on a chalkboard. God... just thinking of it makes me shiver.

That and walking barefoot on dry and dusty smooth concrete.

GAH!

i get them when I pee sometimes...it causes me to lose control of my pee stream on occasion.

Had them happen to me in the same situation as well.

Hmmmmmmm.

if i hit the toilet seat i can't justify wiping it off...it had to be fate that caused me to miss. i can't be held responsible every time i piss uncontrollably.

i remember reading about this a while ago and found out it happens to almost everyone, though i forget why. helplife2.net to the wikimobile!

I also get a shiver when I pee. I assume it's got to do with my body adjusting to my bladder shrinking, but I really don't know if it's that.

I get this sometimes too. I don't mind the sensation though :naughty:

Sometimes I purposely try to trigger this sensation. I love the feeling.

Just refill your crack pipe and have another puff!

The autonomic nervous system controls the body's involuntary muscles, including the digestive tract, heart, and bladder muscles. It also regulates your body's temperature control, making you sweat to cool off and shiver to warm up.

During urination, the autonomic system can get overstimulated. "In addition to the messages the system is sending to your bladder, it may also communicate with other areas," Cross notes. Hence the shiver.

This phenomenon can be a real health problem for some men: They can pass out at the urinal when their autonomic system cues a drop in blood pressure!

i need to witness this...or be the one who passes out and wakes up in a puddle of my own pee.

It can happen.

Not safe for work (but hilarious):

Yes I get these. I can also cause them usually.

This happens to me alot and it seems like the shiver starts from my head, goes to the toes and back up, like when a wet dog shakes itself off. I end up having to wipe pee from the toilet rim and floor.

While on the subject, I get a weird shiver, well more like a tremble, whenever I squat and bend my knees for any period of time. Some day's it's worse than others as I can barely bend and hold them without trembling so bad I feel like I'm going to collapse and fall on my arse. It's also alot worse whenever I try to pick up something heavy using my knees instead of my back (which is said to be the correct way to lift heavy objects)

Don't know why this happens. I'm not that out of shape or anything as I take 1 hour jogs nearly every day plus being on my feet alot on some days anyways.

Touching the flour on baked bread does this to me.

I think I know what you mean. Like a small shiver that shakes your whole body, goes away rather quickly and doesn't bother you all that much? I don't get these very often, so they're not a nuisance for me.

This happens when I'm drunk or when I don't sleep for a few days. :\

Beer is disgusting, Only Vodka, Buckfast or Mickey Finn's will do.
The MOST disgusting drink ever.

I was shocked, on arriving in NI to see people drinking it.

Gemma rhymes with Buddha.

Haha.

Ha.

No.

I used to get them more but I bet its your body's natural way of shaking off a bug or to get warm real quick. kinda like a quick shiver that doesn't last as long as a regular shiver like when you go swimming in a cool place. Also I love it when your watching a movie like Star Trek 2009 and the hairs on the back of your neck stand up and you feel different senses
