I'd like to get some games while they are cheap. I need your help with suggestions, and telling me what's good and what's shit.

So here is what I have been considering-

Longest Journey
Beyond Good And Evil
Prey
Masquerade: Bloodlines
Silent Hill: Homecoming (have not played other SH games though
:( )

In terms of style, I am up for most anything good, but mostly I am shooting for something with a good story.
Primarily the Action, Adventure, or RPG genres.
The things I do NOT want are strategy games, unless you can think of one that is super amazing with a good story.

Beyond Good and Evil and Masquerade Bloodlines are must buys. Even though Bloodlines is highly buggy. I think Valve has the dev patch applied automatically, and you can download and install fan patches to fix most bugs.

Longest Journey
is pretty awesome. But it is annoyingly, adventure-game obtuse.

Silent Hill: Homecoming (have not played other SH games though[/B] :( )

You dolt. I told you, dl gametap..play 2 & 3 for a month then uninstall. It'll only cost you a buck and sh 2 & 3 are fantastic games, made from an entirely different team than homecoming (which from what I've heard is a piece of shit).

lol yes I've told you that like 10 times already, look dl it like I said first month is a buck..I'm about to replay 2 right now. Although the pc controls kinda suck its an amazing game. Plus you get an added sub scenario playing as maria...trust me dude get it.

So wait.... they have SH 2-3 for PC, is that what you are saying?

;)

You.....

Judging from the time I spent with the PS2 version, you're not missing much in the way of controls.

If you want a brainless slashy-combat swashbuckling type FPS, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic is pretty cheap on the sale. Meant to be buggy-ish, and probably not the deepest game ever, but... well, watch this and make up your own mind:

that looks.... pretty hilarious actually, though cheap

lmao bad^hat, I want something like that in MP. And I agree Vampire bloodlines, looks pretty good.

Get VTM: Bloodlines first.

Or I will kill you.

I just played the Lost Planet Demo, wow, that was very not good.

I wish Dead Space was on there already, I'd consider it.

Get VTM: Bloodlines first.

Or I will hurt you really bad.
And then Krynn will kill you.

VTM: Bloodlines is only 2 dollars off?! is it worth 17.99?

Hell ****ing yes it is. It was worth full price. Hell, I bought it twice.

The premise is you are a newly-made vampire who is thrust into the underground society of the vampires. There are multiple "societies" that all move against each other in sneaky ways. You choose your own clan (race), skills, what group to join up with, etc.

If you're looking for good story don't get a silent Hill game, half the time you won't know what's going on and after all the hard work of playing the game the endings are generally unsatisfying.

My mum played the longest journey, it's great apparently.

Well, I got Deus Ex, Psychonauts, Bioshock (it was $5, what the hell right?), and HL:BS.

I am currently in love with Deus Ex, even though I've developed a nasty habit of not saving and dying an hour later, thus having to do it all again. :/

bought Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines
pretty cool so far
is it just me or does the guy that guides you through the tutorial sound alot like Marcus from Gears of War?!

*EDIT*

it IS the same guy

I've had Bioshock for a while now, anyone who doesn't get Bioshock for 5 dollars (while not already owning it) are insane tbh. Very worth it.

ya the only other games i can recommend are Bioshock (STEAL for 5 bucks) and World In Conflict

I got Dreamfall and Longest Journey pack.

I got Dreamfall and Longest Journey pack.

Two completely different games (Point and click/Action adventure) but a bloody awesome all the same.

You might need a patch for TLJ as the Steam release isn't up to date afaik and probably never will be.

what about The Witcher? is it worth 30 bucks now that it's been "enhanced"??
looks like a pretty good single player RPG but i dunno if i'll have time for it now that i purchased VTMB

I'll be getting Bioshock (unless I forget about it) because I really liked the demo/it's five friggin dollars.

What is Psychonauts going for? Just occurred to me I still need to get that.

8.99$

It's 1$ off.

Woohoo.

Also, I need some recommendations as well. I just purchased Sid Meier's Pirates because that game was bloody brilliant.

Well shit. I'll get it if it ever drops significantly or goes on a better sale.

Civ 4 is a good game to pick up if you want hours of your life to suddenly vanish

My Steam page tells me I've already sunk 17 hours into Mount & Blade, so that might be a good bet too.

Edit - Wouldn't count on the story being any good, mind you. It's all about the adventure.

Psychonauts was worth the full price I paid for it on release. YOU HAVE ZERO EXCUSE FOR NOT BUYING IT.

EXCUSE: I could get it cheaper.

It's a Level 3 on Sheepo's game purchase chart.

4: Have to have ASAP
3: Get when it's as convenient/cheap as possible
2: Might get it one day. Maybe. Like 2028 and I'm a billionare or some shit.
1: Will never get.
