So as you might understand mods take time to mold and create. Models to maps to the coding up to the first alpha. So, I want to ask do you care how long it takes as long as its fun?

I voted for fun; I don't care how long a mod takes to complete, as long as it offers me a good experience in the end.

Nobody gives a shit how much time it takes. Its a pretty dumb question. Next question should be "Do you think Halflife 2 mods require Halflife 2?"

Krynn72 many people judge mods if it takes them 2 to 3 years to make.

All you need to do is not breathlessly and impatiently await the release, and not check message boards/forums/info/news daily. I live my life in regards to consumable media in a constant state of happy surprise, which works very well for me. Something will come out, and I'll go 'ooh', and then I'll be happy, and I'll play/read/watch/listen to it.

If it's fun, don't care how long it takes. I'm not at all disposed towards hyping over a mod for years and years though. If it's going to come out, don't tease about it for four years before releasing, just get it out there.

I think it's really whether a mod is fun or not that matters. This doesn't mean it isn't a good idea to release early and often, while tweaking the mod and adding new content/code or revising the old to keep their players supportive and happy while the team is working toward the final version.

Its a mod bugs are expected so long as its fun.
