First Tim burton left (lowered my expectation by 75%) then they hired the guy who directed Rush Hour (....jeez could they have picked a crappier director? ...lowered what was left of my expectation to about 1%)

Now he's left because the studio wouldnt hire his choice for the lead in Superman: soap star Matt Bomer

hopefully they'll bring in some name talent to revive what will surely be a crappy superman film

I thought Rush Hour was good....Anyway, they should get Chris Reeves to do it. Ok so he can't move but thats of no importance...Just prop him up when he is supposed to be flying and let him sit down for the rest of the film.

With the special effects we have today all they would need is his head and they could make him fly and do all sorts of crazy stuff...hell they wouldn't even need his head....

They're doing a new Superman movie? All the most recent Superhero movies (Spiderman aside) have been shit, so I have no hope for this if they are.

hehe I'm starting to think you have a morbid streak ;)

I guess the flying scenes wouldnt be too difficult to film ...just plop him down on a bed ....he can literally stay in that position for .......years :)

craigweb: the Xmen movies were great

I've been reading rumour of this new Superman movie for the last 5 years on the internet.

I read one of the scripts Superman had a sidekick superdog who could fly and stuff. That was rejected. I also heard M.Knight.Shyamalan (6th sense director, Unbreakable director) was going to direct it but the studio wouldn't give him enough creative control and he left.

The Superman movie franchise will never get off the ground again.

Oh yes! I stand corrected. X2 was good. Didn't think much to X1 though.

As for the Hulk, due to the bad press I haven't seen it yet.

apparantly the Hulk had crappy computer graphics... i never saw it.

but HOW could they possibly give it crap graphics? it must have been the WORST budget ever if they couldnt make it look better than a fat ogre (shrek). maybe he should have been the star instead...

ROFL... you wouldnt like me when im angry... i eat worms :p

Hulk, to me, looked a little too cartoonish for its time, but not as much as the critics ranted on about. But I didn't like it so much because I thought the acting was crap, and that the ending didn't make sense.

do you guys think that the movie industry may start to really struggle,, as the games industry is earning more out of the population as it stands at moment, and as games become more movie like in there own way, except with the interactive element.. Could the movie industry have to cut back on the amount of movies their making? will they go bust?

or will we really care? when games 5 to 10 times more realistic and emersive than HL2 hit the shelves in the future, To the point where you could make a game where you could play out your own pre made movie, or play someone elses :O.

X-men 2? Anyway, I thought Ashton Kucher was gonna be superman. No?

no :) It was supposed to be Nicolas cage

edit: clarky, the movie industry is struggling cuz they think throwing a bunch of cash at a project will lead to success. They forgot about the most important element: a good story

Yeah, the ending was flat-out bizarre. And they barely used the badguy at all.

It made no sense, and it took sooo long... and just ended. Meh. I thought that the different cameras throughout the movie were interesting, but a bit annoying. They were trying to make it comic book style, and I think they had some success with that. But bleh.

Both Rush Hour movies rocked. But the same director simply won't fit in the one needed to make a good sueprman movie.

meh rush hour was rather predicatble IMHO ...but then again I cant watch 80% of hollywood movies

oh and the director also made The family man and Money Talks ...both crappy movies

They should just have Reeve in a wheelchair flying around the sky.

The castings in the Lois & Clark TV show was bloody marvellous. They should make a movie with them. No question about it!

you're not serious are you? man, the Dean guy had the personality of a rock and was too short to be the man of Steel ...lois was hot though

X-men 1 was semi-decent...... Ill have to rent X2.

Every other comicbook movie that has come out recently has been garbage. I doubt a new SM will be any better.....but we can hope.

Heh, its good. At least from what I remember...

It was along time ago that I saw it.... I may rent it again too. :)

I think their only credible choice now is to get Kevin Smith back on board, he's planning to do the Green Hornet (rumoured to be Jason Lee). The film company could just use that film as a testbed for what a Smith Superman would be like; with the support/fanbase that Smith has, unless it's a stupendous budget (with the trouble the project has had, that'll be unlikely), it would at least break even. Casting wise, again the TV show 'Smallville' has been pissing on the grave of the film project since the show started. I thought the whole point of the series was to facilitate a movie franchise. It seems a lot of the men at the top, don't have a clue.

Well I think the Clark & Lois actors were damn good & fit the parts perfectly. Reeve might be a better choice yes but that's not going to happen is it?

What exactly would be the premise of this new Superman anyhoo? Are they planning on taking it the Prequel route (ala Smallville), which I aint seen, so can't comment on.

if it's a smallville movie:

Thumps Up!

if not? I somehow expect the worst. but hey, Spiderman, X-Men, and the Hulk giveme hope.
