Hey guys. Well, what a bummer eh? It's delayed. I think we all knew it would be deep down. I did anyway.

First of all I'm going to apologise for making this thread as I'm sure you're all (that includes me) are fed up of hearing about the delay.

There's been a lot of anger directed towards Valve for their decision to delay Half-Life 2, and the fact that it seems they deliberately kept us in the dark for so long before they said anything. Along with that anger seems to be a lot of hate.

Just last week I sent an e-mail to Gabe telling him that no matter what happened we'd support Valve. In the same e-mail I was telling him how I thought it was really bad that people didn't have faith, and didn't trust their word, so in a way I've been sort of made to look stupid. But forgetting that and going back to my original point, Gabe and the team should still be supported. They shouldn't get e-mails from angry fans, they shouldn't have to see us squabbling over who's right and who's wrong, instead they should see a fan base that is supporting them and supporting others and I think we should start that today. Right here, right now.

I know they aren't the most reliable company in the world when it comes to releases, but if you look at everything they've done for us and our entertainment then you can see why we should show them our support. They provided us with a game that spawned many other games, and in some form or another, whether it be HL SP, DM, TP, The Specialists, Counter-Strike, DOD, TFC, Firearms, Sven Co-Op etc. we all still enjoy something that was originally from the hands of Valve. They're now trying to do the same, bigger and better and ok, it's been bumpy up until now but they're still working for us, and working with us, to keep us busy for the next five years. They're answering our questions, improving our current gaming lives and games, and also still trying to make that sequel and for that, Valve gets a big thumbs up from me.

It's a bit "old" now, it's been done before, but I think Valve should know that we're still supporting them, and if you'd like to do that, please post your message of support here and I'll e-mail them to Valve Software once there's a good few comments.

 Go on Valve. We're right behind you all the way.

I don't know... the 'Screw half-life 2 until its out" chanting is more appealing to me than all the lies and bull we've had to deal with.

I'm going to see a hypnotist, and have them erase half-life 2 from my memory, set to reawaken the day the game is released... Half-life 2 just isnt worth it to be stressed over this much.

i dont think the point of people sending emails are the fact that its delayed, if anything i would have to say its from them waiting till the last minute to do so.

Valve is just like me....waiting to do things in the very last minute---hehe quite funny actually...

very well said chris_d.

i support valve 100% they give us the movies to watch and i know all they think about is us the community the most.

they delayed it because of us the community in away if you think about it.

They want to make the game fantastic in every way possible. they want a bug free, glith free, and a game that will not crash on our pcs. they don't want us to experience big problems when we have the game, so they have to make a patch.

valve i support you and hope the game is out sooner then later with the delay :)

I'm with you chris, I've seen people in the chat room talking about how they have sent angry emails about how its delayed, and this is insane. We all knew when it hadnt gone gold it wasnt going to make it, but that doesent mean we should lose interest and start flaming, and it certainly doesent mean that we should start sending disturbing emails. I stand behind Valve 200%

Yeah... they decided not to announce a delay at the last moment for us, the community as well.

Sorry, I don't need that shovel-full. :cheese:

i don't get why people are emailing flame emails to gabe that is really out of order, because there must be some big problem they need to fix, and because it won't arrive on time everyone is being selfish babies and saying...

"WAAAAA WAAAA I WANT IT NOW NOT THEN..NOW WAAA WAAA"

if they were gonna delay the game ok. But if they would of announced it earlier, then their wouldnt be such a backlash from the community

good point. but still no point in flame emails to gabe from people

true it will be less buggy, but how long have they been making this game again?

what is not ok to do is to say one month ago etsc thats tis probably going to make the release date, then gabe always answering WELL SEE in emails from people when they ask if its goin to make it. WELL SEE implies that they will do it while they knew they werent able to. It just sucks that i had plan next tuesday to get the game and have fun cause this semester just suck and then BAM,delayed less than a week before. Ill get max payne 2 with the money and ill get half life 2 one day.....maybe
i just cant respect someone who lied to us for a reason and if its for steam than screw them they can go to hell. I would not have cared about a delay 1 month ago, but now 6 days before ?? **** man thats not ok

It's all valid.
Yep, we should be supporting Valve, not flaming them with immature rants about wanting it now not later.
Yep, Valve should have kept the communication going with it's userbase, that offical word blackout from ECTS onwards really messed things up.
They have hurt themselves really badly in doing this from a PR standpoint because we were way beyond the point of anticipation and well into the anger stage.

They've admitted it now and we can all settle down again and get back on their side.

They've made a game that got over 50 awards, STILL the most played multiplayer game after 5 years of its release, and by far one of the most fan friendly companies in the world, yet people still complain. Just because they missed there release date your going to go ranting about how bad of developers they are. Look what they've done for us, imagine where we would be now if there was no HL and they didn't even release it instead of delaying it one year. The fact of the matter is that whenever it's released, weeks, months, even years, your going to play and your going to LOVE it.

Chris said this well and I have 100% support for Valve. They are still in my eyes one of the best teams in the world. Please don't go on about how there so bad, when they really aren't. Again, look where they are now with HL, they have to be doing something right.

thats horrible logic. the good things they have done does not erase their incompetence they've shown. they have to realize they made a mistake. and they have to realize they need a ****ing news page on their site for christs sake! they may be good at making games and generally like the community, but they SUCK at dealing with the press and community.

I agree with what Chris_D said a lot. Valve's stilll a great company. But I still agree with XShrike here completely. Valve knew what a big deal their silence was causing and still waited...oh well

I think I've posted the same thing about 10 times in 10 different ways, so I'm done commenting on the delay now.
