Suprnova says goodbye

I'll miss suprnova ... whenever I mised an episode of my fave tv series I could always download it and catch.

Infact I jumped on today because I missed last weeks BSG, only to find out the site was down :/ (will have to wait god knows how long to catch it now)

Ah well - it'll stop as many games and movies being pirated, which is a good thing.
www.uknova.com

There you go.

dAM, that is sad.

267GB downloaded and 130GB uploaded in a year from that site. ;(

dam I HOP they return back...................
/me going to look for another torrents site. ;(
Did you ever think that perhaps you download too much stuff? Too much illegal stuff?
I'm not going to pretend I haven't used this site before: it helped me get my 24 fix whilst cable was f*cked in my halls. But overall, I don't care too much. There are other torrent sites if one must. Best of all - and I'm sure you'll all agree - is that maybe my flatmate will actually genuinely curb his download habit, which is about as bad as Gorgon's.

I've downloaded over 250 movies from Suprnova..I am going to miss it.

Bugger me... Do you own any DVDs? Did you really genuinely want all these films that badly? I really reckon something like this becomes, not so much an addiction, but certainly a deeply compulsive habit. Downloading stuff simply because you can.

I own The Matrix, X-Men, Spider-Man, LOTR: FOTR and Two Towers....I think that's it.

And yes, I did want all of the movies I downloaded.

I don't download every movie I see, I have some requirements. Usually no lower than 6.0 on imdb for one :|

You can't possibly judge a movie by its imdb rating, can you? :| It is sorta like asking a bunch of monkeys their opinions on politics, and letting them choose on a scale from one to ten. Or something. Anyway...

Bye, suprnova, and bye torrents. :( ;(

Yea I wasn't completely serious on the imdb thing, it was just an example of how I decide whether to download or not.

suprnova sucked anyways, thank goodness my roomate's taiwanese, he finds all the good torrents on chinese boards, which i doubt will be shutting down anytime soon

I've got loads of warez on my computer. I've got lots of illegal movies, audio files, and games.

So what.

I've got over 100 DVDs bought and paid for. Nearly 200 CDs of music. Over 100 vinyl albums. Quite a few VHS cassettes of films and videos. I've also got half a dozen games sat in their boxes - because believe it or not I only play 2 games regularly. I bought HL2, but I couldn't care less if another person pirated it, just as I don't care if some scrote in the next town cheats his dole money.

I have a clear concience. There are lots of other places to find torrents.

Oh, and you can't stop free speech, so these websites will simply be hosted in countries where the legal system sticks 2 fingers up to the US lawyers - as if they had a right to shut them down anyway :/

lots of alternative...I'll miss it because it was so organized, but now I've found better. :D

so, because you buy something, your allowed to illegal acquire other things ?

makes sense

No, but what I'm saying is, I don't care. I'm not some idiot sat here with 50 gigs of illegal software/music/films on his computer, and a dodgy 15 year old VHS of Star Wars collecting dust on his shelf downstairs. I buy lots of music, I always will, I just have no problem with pirating stuff I don't think is worth buying.

Thats my opinion, and theres nowt wrong with it IMFO.

your opinion that stealing is ok because you buy something is factually wrong [Buying something doesn't give you the rights to steal something else].

and yes, i know it's your opinion, i mean, you made the post, no need to say it 3 times.

Its my opinion, and by their very nature opinions cannot be held to be wrong. So :p

Really? Well, it's my opinion that the world is flat. Also, that you are a matrian from the planet Zerdogiantybahtut.
:rolling:
In fact, only opinions can be wrong... because all thats left are facts, which are.. well, fact. lol

The RIAA have every right to "win". They fund this stuff in hope of profit. They don't get profit = you won't get this stuff...

And it's more acceptable to download things the habit is strongly linked to your habits of buying. In fact, I think that's potentially to be encouraged.

But of course, this is just my personal view of things.

And I hate people who say opinions can't be wrong, I wish they would listen to what they're saying!

I'd have more respect/sympathy for the major record companies who are so desperately protective and angered over file-sharing, etc. if they paid the artists a better cut of the record sales. They claim that file-sharing is damaging artists and whilst this may hold some truth, they're damaging artists themselves when they try to take a larger cut than they deserve.

Yeah, I do think things need to be done in the record industry, but piracy will solve nothing to be truthful.

All that will happen is the artist gets screwed a little more because the industry will say "since profit wasn't as good, neither is your pay".

Exactly, Kangy. I have a somewhat skewed opinion on music piracy - I would never download a whole album. If I like the band enough to want the majority of their songs, I'd buy the CD/LP (Christ, I love vinyl) - I prefer having the physical product anyway. However if there is a song I like, then much rather than buy a single (which will inevitably just go and collect dust on my shelf and then contribute to the world's ever-growing wastefulness and pollution) or buy an album on the strength of, say, two songs I would download it. However, I have often bought albums on the strength of downloading a song, listening to it and then deciding I want to hear more of them. Self-righteous, I know but I don't care. I'd also use p2p to download rarities; for example an acoustic Jimi Hendrix jam that I don't believe I have ever seen anywhere else on CD.

Music is a right not a privelage.
Although I believe some people abuse that right when they download album upon album; I don't think that's fair.

the RIAA has one main flaw...

music pirating has been directly linked to BETTER sales. So by stopping it, they are literally shooting themselves in the foot.

that show gets repeated about fifty times during the week... but I'll miss Suprnova purely for the downloads of US shows. Beats waiting; when are we gonna get lost over here anyway?

Dang, and I had just downloaded Jimmy Buffet's license to chill CD. :(

Uhoh, here comes the RIAA! RUN FOR THE HILLS!

there are other and better irc-searching sites.
