Are you saying you can use someone else's wireless internet connection if they have it?
Like if my enigber has wireless internet , i can be sitting in my house takeing up some bandwith, or do they have to allow it?

How much memory dos a psp have? not includeing the 32mb memory card.

Yup, that's what he's saying. Take your laptop(or psp) around town and run a wifi detecting program and you will be surprised at what you find. Any wireless network you find that isn't encrypted, you can connect to and use to surf the 'Net for free. Of course, its not really free, as it is technically someone else's bandwidth, but this becomes a pretty gray area in the law. The wireless networks are there sending out unprotected signals for anyone to pick up, just like a radio station does. If its being broadcast openly, how illegal can it be, but it certainly depends on your state's/country's laws.

And how many people running wireless networks actually check their logs and such for discrepancies or monitor their network traffic? Thanks to places like BestBuy and others, every idiot and their mother has a wireless network because it is "cool" and most aren't secured properly. Very surprising to see how many people hook up a wireless network and don't even bother to activate WEP at least. Ridiculously insecure and crazy if you ask me, but many corporations do this too surprisingly. :rolling:

There's a hack wiht Wipeout Pure that someone made that you can surf wireless internet (hotspots, too) with your PSP.

My college has free wirless internet for anyone on campus, but i thought they had to allow it.

Hehe, I can access someones wireless network down my street, signals pretty weak though.

So does the college I work at, but you have to have the long-ass key they provide you with via email to get on it, but its free to all students and faculty (and anyone else who might somehow get the key).

There are also plenty of websites that have hotspot locations and such all mapped out or at least listed that might be around your neck of the woods, so you could check those to see where you might try to connect. Its much more fun to just go out and do it for yourself though. :E

My nextdoor neighbor has an open wireless network. I usually use that for my pocket PC. The problem is, my history saves on his network, so I have to erase my history.

well either you can update to new version 2.0 for psp which is japaneese only atm, usa coming soon, or if your on version 1.5 you can run homebrew games, thats if u know what homebrew is. theres a ripped browser from a japaneese psp game tenchi no mon, which is pretty good, thats what im currently using.

homebrew are games made by public coders, for example they have made, emulators, game ports etc.

example emulators

Gameboy
Sega mega drive
Super Nintendo
Nintendo

etc.

They only work on versions 1.0 and 1.5 of the sony psp, so if your psp is 1.51/.52 then its impossible for you to play these types of stuff..
