i think i have a virus

alright every now and then my comp gets really slow when i start the computer. so i check the taskmanager and it says that svchost.exe is using all 100% of the cpu usage. if u try and delete it, the comp will shut its self down. then i was told somewhere to down loade this process manager. so i download it and then clicked on properties of svchost.exe and then clicked on the thread tab and killed the the thread that was using the most cpu usage. but when i do kill it, the system gets really glichy and buggy. i have ran norton antivirus 2002 and also adaware. i also ran these both in safe mode. then someone told me to run an symantec online virus scan. so i tried that but it would never progress thru the scan and it said downloading the antivirus stuff.

please help this is getting really anoying and has been haunting me for months now

that's a virus. I couldn't tell you exactly what it's called but it's a virus for sure. I had the same thing once. It's common to have 3 or 4 scvhosts running at once but i had one that = 100% load whenever i tried to go online. It was crippling. I'd run an online scan but not norton it oculd be that your virus is designed to block you from accessing certain antiviral software and websites. Gimme a minute and i'll look up the website

svchost.exe is a system process

don't shut it down.

yah i no hazar, lol, ive tried

but i got a way to shut down the part of svchost.exe that is screwing with me

well, there's a virus that uses svchost to do stuff, but on winXP, win2k, you should have 3-5 repitions of it running. that's normal.

well im running windows xp and i have six svchost.exe running and one of them is using all of the cpu usage

svchost.exe is normal.

sCVhost.exe is a virus. Notice the v and c are switched for the virus version.

You should just make a copy of your old disk structure and do a fresh install of windows.

You mean retarded? Also no need to bite at the folks helping you, not a good way to get a problem solved. And 15$ says you were an idiot and used a program such as Kazaa or a P2P sharing program to get a crack for a game or something of the sort but just happened to get one with a built in virus

And you must be illiterate. I said the one you have is NORMAL! N-O-R-M-A-L!

_IF_ the "V" and "C" where switched to make "sCVhost.exe" that means it is a V-I-R-U-S! Therefore, it is not a damn virus.

Do you understand now?
Next time don't be such an asshole when people take time out of their day to help you.

i was hit by the sasser virus. same thinf was happenin so i kicked my comp and then did a full reformat :x
