Swimming with a weapon

When it was first released it was in the future.
And so long as there are no full-body mechanical suits and teleportation devices, it will always be in a non-contemporary time frame.

Also, the manual dates Freeman's arrival at Black Mesa as 200-. So there's still 2 years left.

Yeah I had always assumed there was a helmet; otherwise the radiation would have kicked his ass / he would have drowed eventually (HL2's reserve O2).

However the one time you see him in blueshift on the stretcher being taken away by the Marines, he doesn't have it on.

it's a collapsible helmet that pops up when he goes underwater, and pops down when he comes out.

And it's a helmet that has a build in speaker so he can listen to a lady tell him that he's getting dangerous amounts of toxic waist in his body.

Actually were 2 years past the time of his actions already.
Where are you getting 2005 from? Please show me. We have no definite date for the events of HL1 other than it takes place sometime in the years 2000-2009 and after May 15th of the year that Gordon was hired and after March 15th of the year that Adrian was undergoing training with the HECU (Though those were probably all the same year), and possibly in December. The only hint we have of the year is a scribling by Laidlaw in Raising the Bar with possible names for Black Mesa and the year 2003 written on it.

I read from somewhere about the Innsbruck experiment and Gordons obsession with quantum physics and teleportation.

And the innsbruck experiment was somewhere in 2005?
And Gordon was there to see it and got hired by BM on the same year.
I'm not sure, my memory is foggy.

The Innsbruck experiment hadn't happened when HL1 was written.

But isn't it possible they KNEW through news or something that the Innsbruck Experimental team were going to attempt a teleport in 2005?

I remind you that that was eight years before said experiment.

What I'd like to know is how Gordon can climb a ladder without using either of his hands.

I remind you that that was eight years before said experiment.

Exactly!

But maybe the experimental team announced it in the news 8 years before it happened?

Because you don't get ready for stuff like that overnight.
You prepear for years.

I have a question: How does gordon reload the pulse rifle without his hand--oops! how does he drive the boat and buggy without his hands??!! and where does the HEV suit get the morphine!!??

1.The weapon reloads itself, after Gordon does something, we don't see.

2.This has been debated already, and the thread was locked.

3.Dunno, some things are better to be left unanswered.
