Listen to better music you tool. System of a down licks my nine.

lol, well r5a, start listing off this mythical "better" music, cause you know everyones tastes are different so as soon as you find some music that everyone likes you'll be rich. Until then you can shut up and not insult other people's tastes.
And to remain on topic, yeah SoaD are cool.

System of a Down is good, AFI is meh, THURSDAY kicks ass

(Download a song by Thursday called "Jet Black New Year" and you'll understand)

SoaD is great, I agree. Not everyone likes it, but that doesn't mean they suck :)

The thing with SOAD is if you like one song by them, chances are you will like almost every song by them. They only have a few stand-out BAD songs, but if you're into the heavy stuff then they get the job done.

They were my favorite band until I played them to death. I guarentee I'll listen to their new album whenever it comes out. As for now I'm finding my way into the "real" metal bands (although I do enjoy listening to nu metal :D).

Hmm... Thursday... They are ok, but they have my eternal respect when their singer went on a rant about how corrupt the recording industry is and he told everyone to download all of their songs if they want cause art should be free and not controlled by large corporations who don't accept innovation.

you uncultured swine!

you all need to get some sunk loto into you.

Thursday's awesome, but why was Thursday mentioned in a System of a Down thread? Thursday's a screamo band. I used to listen to system of a down, and then one day I heard it on the radio and I just though "WTF is this crap?" and then shut it off.

that's why there are different types of music/bands out there. different taste for different ppl heh
SoaD is good, but i also like a wide range of other music so I'm not gonna be the next person who says "Soad, but [insert band name here] is better!!"

....*cough*At the Drive-In*cough* haha ;p

I've only heard that 'Aerials' song by them... and it's good. :)

"Pirates On Tuesday, Ninjas on Saturday" is a good band.

POTNOS for great justice.

I love this guys, their first album is asawme, but the second one is total shit, mind you.
Have they released their third album ?

..Steal This Album was great! How could you call it shit!?

How can such a thread earn so many posts? I like Rob Zombie btw

I hope System incorporate more traditional Armenian more into their music for their next album. Songs like Ariels really benefitted from stuff like that. While System are already brilliant, I'm not sure I'll be happy if it's just another album full of huge riffs.

Download it!?!!?! Someone call the RIAA!!!! j/ks :) I'm sure you mean from iTunes or something where you pay... ;)

back on topic... I like system of a down too! :)

Their 2nd and 3rd CDs were awesome, I loved em. I haven't really heard their first one.

I think System is probably an acquired taste, and while I've never actually picked up a CD of theirs I can respect them and the creativity that actually goes into some of their stuff.

Not a fan of SoaD, myself. I don't like his singing style, it's a bit too melodic for my liking (I prefer screaming in my music ;)) and I'm not too partial to the general feel of their music, either. Can't explain it, but I prefer death/black metal anyway. Can they even be classed as metal? Hard to tell, really.

Of course they're metal, just not in the traditional sense. They're a tad more schizophrenic than most other generic metal bands.

They could even dip into the 'Nu-Metal' category, but I won't get started with that kind of stuff :hmph:

Even with all these ridiculous little categories we've diced music down into its still a pain to try to classify most bands.

Feh, you either like them or you don't. Me I love em. Listening to SOAD always reminds me of Dragon Ball Z. Why? DBZ was what got me into anime (although I'm not really big on it any more), before that I didn't even know what anime was. It wasn't the greatest example of the art but it was sufficient to make me want more. Same with SOAD. Dad used to listen to this student radio station alot that always played really altish stuff, and thankfully not just singles. This was back before Toxicity days. They used to play Sugar and Peephole alot, and at the time (being the musical invalid I was), I thought it was some shitty hick local band and payed it no mind. Then M2 came along, awesome music channel, and Toxicity was released. I got wind of Chop Suey and thought it was a pretty cool song, still no direct interest though. By this time I was listening to Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory like ten times daily and had memorized the lyrics back to back. I could even rap the track Forgotten at like 4x normal speed :D Then Toxicity became a single and I caught the video, was like O EM GEE! Went out and bought the album (the first album I ever actually bought) and listened the hell out of it. After that a friend introduced me to the first album and I went back to tracks like Sugar and thought "Damn, what have I been missing out on!". But yeah, I still like em, just like I don't mind DBZ, but from there I was introduced to many great bands and I'm still finding new stuff to jam to. My air guitar goes through five sets of strings a week! :O

And yeah, Steal This Album was a bit weak (they're only b-sides tho), but I still like Toxicity and their debut is awesome. Favourite SOAD song of all time - War :)

Oh and I love John Dolmian (sp?)! He's one of my really early influences in drumming \m/

Rock on! Keep it crazy people.

Steal this Album is right up there with anything else they have ever done. The Highway Song has a great flow, Chic 'n Stu is hilarious and fun to listen to, and Streamline is a great mix of both slow and heavy sounds. No other album by them has so much variety.

obviously not many people have listened to their masterwork first album....it's not the toxicity album either......it's titled "system of a down" and that album blows everything else they made off the water

SoaD are okay, but I must agree with this man here...Sunk Loto are better, and I've seen them live to boot (along with Korn)
