While your at it my computers:

Pentium 4 at 1.80 GHZ
256 MB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 4 MX at 64 MB RAM

Do you think the graphics will be good, and the game will run smoothly on my computer?!?!?!?!?!

It will run okay on your comp.

No special effects or anything though.

id concider upgrading your video card the mx series doesnt support pixel shading..

wait awhile for ATi's next line of cards comes out (in may) and then the price of the 9800 should go down, then buy one.

Well currently it's only ~$200. Pretty low now. Your processor might limit its capabilities (happened to me).

when the price drops he can use the extra money he would have spent and buy a new cpu. and ANY cpu (even an AMD 64bit cpu will be a bit of a bottleneck for the radeon 9800 pro.)

the system requirement valve spewed out are P3 733 mhz DX6 graphics card 128 mbs of ram... the REAL system req will probly be P3 1.0Ghz 256 ram by the time the game is all shinned up... this is only my idea... so it could be more or less then what have says... but around thare... the 9800Pro 128 mb ram is a good card for a tight budget... but the 6800 and the r240 will be much better then it with a much steeper price... mabee if Nvidia lives to its name again you can get the 6800 non ultra for 200 or 300 cant remember witch but yes get mabee a tad more ram and a DX 9 card and your good i have a 2.0 ghz 256 mb of ram and a FX5200 that has served me well... the Nvidia cards might be a tad slower but they dont crap out that much...

Hey Apos, does your name stand for 'a piece of shit'?

To stay on track, if the benchmark Gabe had 1/2 year ago stilll hold up, most of these 64-bit 12.3Gigamahertz 3 teraflop RAM computers are way more than you'll ever need.

if your card doesn't support pixel shading will the game run at all?

It will work, just those options will be disabled for you.

If you want a 9800pro, get one now. The price on it won't go down much, if at all. It's been discontinued already by sapphire. ATi is about to do so as well, if they haven't already. The 9800pro cuts into ATi's 9600XT card's profits, so it's being discontinued. The store I shop at said whatever they get now of the 9800pros is gonna be it. The new line of cards from ATi and NVidia will cause cards like the 9800XT to drop in price, I would guess to about 400 CDN.

I hope my system runs HL2 smooth...

2500+ AMD
1024MB + ram
ATI 9800-SE (soft-modded of course)

i hope.....i dream...Mm

I agree. I have a 9800pro and it's been giving my VPU errors recently. I'll never buy ATi again, regardless of their performance advantage. Stability and reliability are more important. When the 6800 Ultra is out I'm going to buy one and sell the Radeon. Any bids? ;)

if i can play the game on over 800X600 with AAx4 and shaders and all with no slow down and over 30 fps, ill be happy.

ASUS-ATI Radeon 9600XT 128 mb RAM
Pentium 4 - 2.8 ghz
512 mb Ram
30 GB HDD

Well i think the game will work on my computer.

P3 1.3ghz
512 ram
40 GB HDD
ATI Radeon 9600 pro

and may i add that so far my 96 pro has not made any errors accure since october 2003 that i got it :D it runs perfect.

No problems with my 9600XT either.

My system specs (for my main pc)
Dual Athlon MP 2000+
Sapphire Radeon 9600XT (with HL2 coupon! :E )
1 Gb RAM
360 Gb Raid 5 array (3ware controller) and 9.1 Quantum Atlas 10k startup disc

Should be smooth sailing

ye, especially with 30 GB HD space

I'm on my second ATi card. The first was a 9500 Pro and currently it's a 9800 Pro. I've yet to experience any problems whatsoever... my system is perfectly stable. But then again, I don't overclock anything.

Athlon 2800+
512 PC3200
ATI 9600 Pro All-In

I think that it should run pretty well, but I am over-heating so I have to do something about that...

AMD 64 3000+
1gb PC3200
ATI 9600PRO

just have to get a GFX Card upgrade and it will be awesome

AMD 2600+ (2ghz :) )
1gb pc2700
and soon ATI 9800XT or x800XT

:) I can't wait to play with the system on halflife 2, its going to rawk!

I have had the 9800 pro 128mb, since the week it was released, and I have had no problems with it, well except an initial incorrect setup, but that was user error :D

I love the 9800 pro, and consequently has changed what I think about ATI (and Nvidia) that doesnt mean Im a fanboy, just that I wont overlook ATI ever again.

if your really having problems with your card you should try the forums at
www.rage3d.com
they are really helpful

Guess I'm going to crack the roof in here. :)

Gaming and windows:
Compressorcooled dual 3GHZ, ATi 9800XT and a 800XT on preorder, 4GB of ram.

While this works to a certain extent, you certainly don't want to wait too long. Look at the 9700 Pro and the 9500 Pro, they're more expensive than the 9800 Pro and 9600 Pro. The r350 series won't be made anymore when the full line of the r(v)420 is out and prices will then begin to rise.

im confuesd here, i thought the 9800 pro was the best ATI card out?! i guess not then. can someone tell me what the best one is? i know the 9800 pro was used at the e3 demo and the graphics were good, but if it doesnt cost too much can somneone tell me the newest card out?! thx

Intel 2.68 ghz
512 mb ram
Geforce FX5600

I hope the game will run ok on this computer :D

Athlon XP 1700+ @ 2400+ 2.0ghz 355mhz FSB
512mb PC2100 @ 355mhz FSB
80GB 7200RPM HD
Geforce FX5900 128MB DDR

Im positive that this system will be able to run HL2 @ 1024x768 highest details and at least 4xAF. I JUST NEED THE GAME!!!
