Believe it or not, Putin is actually extremely popular in Russia. It's no surprise his puppet Medvedev was elected.
 
he's popular because people are told to either like him or go to jail. this is a 100% proven fact.

Well, Putin brought order back to the Soviet U--- I mean the Russian Federation after the tragedy of Boris Yeltsin. He got rid of the oligarchs and other extremely wealthy businessmen and helped consolidate Russian oil wealth, which has done wonders for the economy.

Granted, he had to do this through "managed democracy" (a.k.a dictatorship), where he eliminated most civil freedoms, destroyed political competition (except with the popular Communist Party), and promoted himself through a massive propaganda campaign. He also ended violence in Chechnya by appointing a brutal dictator as president there.

Is Russian approval of Putin misguided? Perhaps, but he has certainly made the country much more stable both politically and economically. The only problem is, this autocratic presidency he has created may never go away.
 
Heh, the music has upgraded a bit, originally it was just three blonde teenagers in a band called "Singin' Together" or something.

You basically just said that Stalin was an ok guy... All of the world's most powerful dictators (who are ALL evil bastards) are good at what they do, I mean how the hell else would they be so powerful? What Putin is doing is called "politics" of course he going to make his country more powerful (at the cost of its people too), but WHY do you think he's doing it? I'll just say that world-peace isn't on his mind. I mean considering he ALREADY has nukes pointed at Europe, and he hasn't even finished fixing the country. Lenin and Stalin were the same, they were amazing politicians, expanding economy, building more nukes *hint ****ing hint*, etc etc, but they were still ****heads.

Wow, we must have read two completely different posts. All he was saying is that the Russians like him because he made their nation more stable. He didnt say anything about saying what hes now doing is in any way good. lrn 2 read
 
everyone seems to forget that Hitler was also a helluva dictator..

he brought his country out of a massive poverty into a World Super Power in a matter of years. Although at teh expense of millions of jews/poloks/gypsies/ect, it was the same act done by the Romans.. capture/enslave/profit..

Over-exaggerated. People like Putin this way because of the image Russian Government built for him, not because of any dictatorships.

Seriously? The chicks were like, mmmmmmmmmmmm... and it was sounding good, then it was like mmmmm....PUTINmmmmmmm... and I was all like *cringe* and then I put it on mute to watch the pretty ladies.
