Tax?

Why does the tax add so much and why isn't it included in the price in the first place? (they say + tax when they could just have given it to you straight)

I just read someone saying "They dropped tax" in another thread, what did he mean by this?

My father was on the way buying the game but then he found out the price was *higher* then it will be with retail when it hits the stores. Looks like it's no CS:S for me.

Can anyone shed any light on this? (Sorry for the crappy english, I'm feeling shitty)

Tax isn't included in the price list because Steam exists in all countries I believe...

The tax is varying for different countries because of the "Import Fees" and other crap like that. You dont have to pay tax in USA though (aslong as you arent in Washington) because there is no internet Tax. And expanding on what AJ said Tax isnt included because of varying tax rates for each countries.

Yay, finally someone answers my question (2 days after I asked it and in a completely different thread).

Now I just have to see if I can get someone local to download the GCF's off so I don't have to waste my international bandwidth.

I live in Sweden and had to pay something like 12$ tax for the Silver package. It's still cheaper than it would be retail if you compare with what you get though.

No tax for Australia I don't think, though I only upgraded from the ATI voucher to Silver, so it wouldn't have been much in any case. I believe import duty only gets charged in Australia for imports that cost over $200 and something dollars (not sure of the exact amount).
