TF2 will be a stand alone game because it is a game that stands alone from HL2; it always was. They have nothing to do with each other beside the Source engine...
(I guess it could come with a Collector's Edition of HL2). This has nothing to do with how greedy Valve is. Chances are nobody here is expecting to buy (just imagine) Doom3 and get Quake4 (I know they are made by different co. but it's the idea of buying 1 game at normal price and getting two just because they use the same engine). It boggles the mind for me to try to think how this can be used against Valve.

In addition, the fact is that retail is still wider spread than mods are and Valve wanted to bring CS to a larger amount of people. Now people still get CS for free but there are people who are playing it now who would not have if it did not go retail as well. You can look at this as you will but I see no hint of an Evil Blood Sucking Valve making people pay for free games. You also can't doubt the boost to other modders and the modding community Valve has been.

Forget what I said about ID's greed untill they explain away THIS.

Lets hope they are not getting a cut of that and it is just some 3rd party person using the Doom 3 logo without IDs knowledge.

At least Carmack personaly does not seem to be greedy.

I was a big believer in the possibility of TF2 being HL2 MP....unfortunatly it doesnt seem that way anymore with the new lombardi interview that has been posted he pretty much clearly states that TF2 will not be HL2 MP....which leads me to ponder on just what will be HL2 MP???..and also why valve has been soooo quiet about TF2 if its not HL2 MP????

Yeah that could be .....still i think they would have released sceenshots or at least something by now cause they have already stated that TF2 is almost done along with HL2....but maybe they just wanna keep it in total secrecy...hmph....who knows with valve :rolling:

I don't know what to believe anymore either. It's basically for a fact though that TF2 isn't coming with HL2.

1. CS:S comes with HL2, they wouldn't offer TF2 also.
2. Stated that work will continue on TF2.
3. TFC:S has to come first.

For all of the other following comments, they seem very strange.
1.Merc asked johnson and he says "They'll kill me if i talk about it"
2. Gabe states TF2 is in finishing stages
3. Valve doesn't talk about TF2 one bit

I would assume that they just dont wan't to be bugged down by people asking about TF2 or start up another highly anticipated game when HL2 isn't even out yet. That surely has to be the reason. The real question is though, how long will it be until we hear something about TF2/release date?
