i dont think its my system, specs are:

1Gb Ram
Hercules 3D Prophet 9800 pro 128mb

He was reitterating your answer, is all

BTW enabling vsync will do 2 things:
1)get rid of frame tearing
2)limit your FPS (to 60fps if you use 60Hz refresh rate/75fps if you use 75Hz refresh rate)

lol I was saving my typing by quoting you. :)
Yes, reitterating.
I don't spam but I do edit my posts a lot.

Ah, ok. Just thought it was a bit weird just to quote someone without adding any new info. No harm done :)

What games are you playing?
In some games you can enable it in the game's graphic settings, some games (like UT2003) you'll have to enable it from the game's .ini file.

isnt there usually a setting for vsync , in each, OpenGl settings, and DirectX settings.

Well to enable it for UT2k3, go to the UT2003 system folder > UT2003.ini > scroll down to the [D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice] section and change UseVSync=False to UseVSync=True and save. Also make sure you set your refreshrate (also in the .ini file under same section) to whatever you prefer. It will be at 60 by default limiting your fps to 60.

Dont know how to do it with the other games.

yeh but it isnt on mine for some reason

No "vertical synchronisation" either? Btw I'm not an ATI user, but I've read that the 3.8 drivers could cause some trouble other then the overheating problem. So try 3.6 or the 3.7 drivers and see if they perform better..

If you still can't find v-sync use a program called Rivatuner to turn it on.
