[Technical] My maps got deleted

OK.....I'm having loading crashes while going into the hospital which have become very regular.

So I went into my console and thought "I can call the map up!"

Its not listed. It goes straight from "ep1_c17_02b" to "ep1_c17_05"

Very very bizarre. Anyone got any suggestions?

Verify the integrity of your Steam files or whatever. That downloads missing files.

There is no way that any map could've been deleted somehow. All the maps are contained within the GCF file.

Maps can become corrupt. Then I guess some anti virus could have deleted them. I think.

An anti virus wouldnt delete a file in a GCF..

Steam can access and delete files from GCFs.
Verifying the game files should fix it.

Or, you could delete the Aftermath files and reinstall the game to be safe.

If Steam can open GCFs in I/O mode, why can't GCFScape?
I'd like to edit the sound files and see the results

Nothing's wrong with your maps. This is how the filenames are - after ep1_c17_02b you go to ep1_c17_05.



A similar thing was with HL2's map filenames during the Highway 17 chapter.
So, map filenames is not what's causing your crashing problems.
