Teen Angst

am I the only one who did the exact opposite of what most teens? I avoided Emo bands and the ilk like the plague instead I listened to old rock, stuff like Rage against the machine and trance (it seems to help me focus, good grades ftw.)

I never listened to emo or anything like it. Granted, I listened to (and still do) Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead, but they were more for their textures and composition. And it's normal to appreciate a good tear-jerker like "Hurt" or "No Surprises".

That's an incredibly ignorant point of view.

Real problems are like "i live in a north korean gulag" or "my parents died in a car crash" or "i'm 70k in debt and now homeless".

Mere teenage angst doesn't qualify, however traumatic it may feel to the person.

Try developing some sense of sympathy for your fellow human beings. Problems are problems, small or big, they're not nice to have.

I concur. I wish to join your rebellion.

It's been lying low for a bit, it was mostly for my group of mates who struck out against shit music in our school. I might bring it back again though...

EDIT: Nirvana has some nice teenage angst within their songs, plus they are a good band.

I think you guys are all missing the bigger point in this thread

Rise Against is NOT emo.

:P
