SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - June 9, 2010 - Telltale Games, the leading independent digital publisher and developer of episodic interactive entertainment, today announced a multi-year, two-title video game development deal with Universal Partnerships & Licensing. Telltale Games has secured the rights to create video games based on two of Universal Pictures' most popular intellectual properties, Back to the Future and Jurassic Park. The first game released under the agreement will be a Telltale Games "season" based on the successful Back to the Future series of films.

With more than five million episodes delivered to date across all major video game platforms, Telltale is the acknowledged leader in digitally delivering episodic content to consumers. The agreement broadens Telltale's product offerings into new genres and new styles of gameplay.

"Our partnership with Universal is an exciting next step in our continued growth as a mass-market games publisher and developer," said Dan Connors, CEO of Telltale Games. "We are all huge fans of both of these franchises. For Back to the Future and Jurassic Park we will leverage Telltale's expertise in story-telling and game design to deliver on the unique elements of each series with our goal being to create compelling cinematic adventures paying homage to each franchise."

Jurassic Park and Back to the Future are two of the most successful film trilogies ever, grossing over $3 billion dollars at the box office collectively.

"Telltale Games has succeeded in establishing a unique combination of digital and physical distribution models, and their reputation for quality production is well earned," said Bill Kispert, Vice President and General Manager, Digital Platforms, Universal Partnerships & Licensing. "Telltale's episodic story-telling is an ideal means by which to add compelling new content to these important franchises."

Look for the first video game based "season" of Back to the Future from Telltale this winter followed shortly by Jurassic Park. Telltale will release more information on both game series at a later date.

In the years that followed, two additional films were released - The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III - bringing the trilogy's worldwide box office total to more than $2 billion. The franchise continues to resonate with consumers worldwide via consumer products, popular attractions at Universal Studios Theme Parks and annual airings of the three films on a multitude of television networks.

You can breathe a little easier if you've been eagerly anticipating Telltale's five-episode Back to the Future series, as USA Today has just confirmed some of its key inclusions:

1. Marty McFly and Doc Brown
2. Christopher Lloyd voicing Doc Brown
3. Hill Valley
4. 1985
5. BttF screenwriter Bob Gale's guidance
6. The DeLorean

We've worked with a team of experts to prepare a list of things we still need confirmed for the episodic game to allow our hearts to open and our expectations to run free, like majestic, time-traveling ponies:

1. Hoverboards.
2. Huey Lewis

Seriously guys, what's up?

I liked the Sam and Max games that telltale did.

I'm pretty sure that loud noise was Shamrock having a heart attack.

Well that explains it, i typed back to the future in the search function

Since this is fairly recent news, it would be far more effective if you just glanced through the last couple of pages in General Gaming.

My brain is tried atm, I wouldn't have connected 'GREAT SCOTT this is heavy!!' title with back to the future if you paid me to spot it.

Then you don't deserve to post a Back to the Future related thread.

I am still wondered how the game will be and what would be the storyline,I mean do it will be the same as the movies or what? will be a point and click adventure or what? I hope they show that soon considering the game is supposed to come in winter

Nah, I was thinking more along the lines of either Denny Crane or Alan Shore.

Watched that show for the first time last night, actually not that bad...

Holy Shit Jurassic Park.

I am trying not to get hyped about it, because I know it will most likely not be a freeroam survival/shooter/adventure on dinosaur island, collecting egg samples, exploring overgrown abandon buildings, and hiding from velociraptors because you only have two bullets left.

Very curious how a Jurassic Park adventure game will work, especially given Telltale's usual cartoony motif.

First real screens from Back To The Future: The Game:

Looks quite nice.
I have a feeling they're going to bump the system reqs up.

Haha. They probably have to give out unique keys for the downloads and didn't prepare enough.

Trailer looks okay. Marty's voice is better than I'd have imagined.

We share a vision, you and I.

Hmmm, seems that people that took advantage of the free first episode offer are only now, 4 days before release, being told their game will delayed a full month. With that Telltale have just lost me as a paying customer. They have started to care less and less about their actual customers.

Yeah, I got an email too.
Apparently we get our free episode when the second episode gets released.

Bah.

I don't really see this as a reason to write them off as a company though, they still deliver quality games.

Also got the email. Doesn't bother me in the slightest. I have other stuff to play.

The guys at Telltale are awesome. They put a soul in their games.

And then it repents for all the people it killed and broods for five seasons.

So I downloaded and started playing the first episode. I can say that visually it looks great, Tell Tale put in a lot of effort with the details and voice acting. I haven't gotten too far because it was late, but one thing for sure is that you'll want to turn off the pop-up help/hints. It can get really annoying, and obtrusive at times, especially if you'd like to do things on your own. So far I'm having a good time with it, I'll probably play a bit more tonight.
