I think it would be a great idea to have some doors that are closed at the start of the round. Then you could have the CT doing the classic thing where there's one CT on each side of door, one CT opens the door, and another CT throws granede in.

And also the doors should be abel to be blown off the hinges by a grenade or shot open with a powerful gun.

Or obviously just opened normally with the "use" key

Filling cabinets could be placed next to doors so the T could block the door, (if it opens towards then). Then it would need the CT to grenade the door to blow it off the hinges to get to the H.

Now I got an idea! This time around, the office is going to be a bit more techy. Double doors will be removed entirely in favor of automatic doors that can be heard throughout the office. Similar methods will be used to hint player locations so when it comes down to one T and one CT, they will hear each other and get to it rather than comb the entire map. I'm also considering changing how the windows break and how they sound when they break. Probably will instead take a certain amount of hits or damage then almost completely shatter, very, very loudly. Shards of the window will remain around the edges of the frame so it makes a smaller sound when players actually walk through the window section. I'm thinking of also making the walls between the halls and the T spawn room semi-penetrable.
 
Oooh, I like that semi-penetrable bit. Lots and lots of spamming through walls, heh.

Automatic doors would be cool, or you could have swing doors that made sounds - Same effect really, but depends on what effect you're going on.

Let's just hope your idea of "more techy" doesn't mean everything being grey. I want some colours in there too!
 
I played on de_courthouse map the other day, and it has openable (word?) doors. and there was a couple problems with them.


1. Worst problem was that you had to be right up close and touchin the doors to open them, this mean that anyone at the other side can see your gun poking throuh the door and gives you away.

2. Doors closed again automatically after x seconds, which is ok as long as theirs not to many. cos to get somewhere fast is soo annoying, opening 10 doors everytime.


I suggest playing this map so you can see how openable doors work and learn from others, and help you decide on what doors you want.
 
its a labyrinth XD what will happen if theres only 1 ct and 1 t left?!?!?!

I knew that would come up so just so you know, I had always intended for these automatic doors to be glass like the ones you see at walmart or any store for that matter. The glass will be breakable and people can still see each other, lob grenades, and fire through them, just mind the door frames :x .

Another idea I'm tossing around is with a lighting effect. There would be power lines in the second outside area (through the garrage), and they could be shot to turn out all the lights except for some guide lights on the floors and hallways. The backup generator would kick in after 20 seconds and all lights would come back on. This can only be done once and with correct coordination (and nightvision of course) could be used by the CT's to break a terrorist defense. The only things that would still work while the power is out are the automatic doors and a few other crucial things.
 
All this is possible and i like the concept but who is going to make this? Have you started mapping or are you still working on the design? It seems to a lot is still be under planning
 
Lol are you serious? I'm guessing that your map might be a little lop-sided due to your head condition. If you are serious good luck!
 
I am making it, but I wan't to be sure of what I'm doing before it gets set in stone. I'm just trying to get some pre-production input from the community so I can provide the best map I can. I have 4 years of mapping experience with UnrealEd, I know the steps of producing a map, trust me. :cool:
 
I had a good time on office last night which made me want this map more. :D

I think there should be quite alot of "stuff" in this map, as i think it's what makes office so good. Bins knocked over, filing cabinets all around. etc.

You got any kind of timescale for the creation of this map?

I've never made a map before so wondering how long it actually takes. I'm sure it's a hell of alot of work, so good luck and keep us informed. Post any schematics, screenshots, questions you want, i check this tread everyday.

That sounds fecking amazing. Make sure, though, that the beackup lights are red, and possibly quite dim. Night vision would pown the map, and if you had it then you would win pretty well lots...

Anyway, very nice work! I can't wait for this map!
 
is it finished yet? is it finished yet? you think you guys can pull off something with the airco system? some path's to crawl trough
 
I'm gonna bump it too, but I have some information about my map and questions about Leo's map.

My map has some pretty funky additions. Like, for instance, there's an APC that has crashed through a wall, and there's a little 3D scene (that you can look at but can't enter) with a dead T ragdoll and stuff. Any little touches like that you could show us in your map?

I think from the response here, the office_2 map is gonna be a most wanted map by alot of people.
 
"Twist my nipples and call me casandra", that map looks awesome. The original was the best out of the original source maps.
 
What I'd like to see is a hostage tied up in a chair, so the CT's would need some time to get the hostage to be able to move. It would take as long as it takes to defuse a bomb. And it would make some noise (cutting/pulling off the tape).

sure oasis, I did an open beta test last night. I've pretty much completed it except the fact I've got to add an underground parking lot (With elevators to the surface) to it. I'll grab some screens in a bit (when I come from mapping) and show you them :)

Yeah we did a few open betas the other night. I've pretty much finished except the fact that there's one little bug when you look out one of the windows...

I can't add underground car parks either - I just get bored.

I actually tried HAMMER last night, took me 1 hour to make a room with a light in. :LOL:

the older versions are on the map just not in rotation if you ask me next time we are on the server i will put deks map on if you like?

Hell NO! It's in a weird stage at the moment. I just noticed a huge gameplay flaw in it and I'm fixing it at the moment!

NO SCREENS TILL IT'S DONE :p
