Terra: Choose Your Destiny, or T: CYD in short, will be
a singleplayer role-playing modification for VALVe's
upcoming game Half-Life 2.
You will play the mod as you wish. At the beginning of
the mod you will have the ability of creating your
character. You will be able to choose race, appearance,
gender and class. For now, three races are planned,
being Human, High Elf and Dwarf.
You must find out who stole the Crystal of Earth, also
known as Ainimur. Did the power-hungry Dark Elves steal
it? Or did the Dwarves? Or perhaps somebody else? But
simultaneously you must recover your identity which
has gone lost to you after a fierce battle...
While you do so you'll have to make choices...
Will you retrieve the crystal or will you keep it for
yourself? Will you be a hero of the known lands or
will you steal all four crystals to unleash the power
of Terra? It's all up to you!
CHOOSE YOUR DESTINY!
Every choice you make will influence the storyline.
Who will hate you and who will love you? It all
depends on your style of playing.
While the main goal of Terra: CYD is to follow the
story you can also choose to take on some side quests
in the many places you'll come across.
FEATURES:
-Huge environments! From Elven capitol cities to
Dwarven mines to strongholds of the Dark Elves.
-An advanced experience system. Depending on what
weapons and/or tactics you use your skills will be
leveled.
-NPC interaction. NPC's won't only talk to you,
they'll also talk to each other.
-A detailed and easy-to-use combat and spellcasting
system! Kill your enemies in more ways!
-An amazing story that will be narrated and cut-scened.
-Lots of things to kill! From giant spiders to
skeletons to vampires to pirates!
-Different factions you can be alligned with.
DEVELOPMENT:
Terra: CYD has been in planning stages for over eight
months. With this public announcement we also would
like to report that we actually got something done
in those eight months! Next to a wide variety of
development members we also have active visitors.
As you might understand, the Terra Development Team is
still looking for people who would like to help us work
on the mod.
We are in serious need of the following:
-Texture artists
---> As most of you know Half-Life 2 will not use
WAD files. Instead, VTF and VMT files will be used,
the so-called material files. This will be
something new for most people. If you want to work
for us as a texture artist you should be able to
get high-quality images, preferably digital. All
textures must be medieval (stones, wooden floors,
rocks, etc.).
-Sprite artists
---> Because we're planning lots of new effects (mainly
in spellcasting) we'll need lots of new sprites.
Sprite artists must be able to make high-quality
sprites of all sorts. For example fire, explosions,
and spellcasting-related things (info will follow).
We are in need of the following:
-Programmers
---> Since we're going to add lots of new features into
Terra we'll need some talented people to make it
all come to life. Knowledge of C++ is a need and
experience with the Half-Life Engine is recommended.
-Modellers
---> We need people who can model props (tables, decorative
objects), weapon models and of course player/NPC
charaters.
-Animators
---> We are also in need of animators who can bring our
models "to life". Animations will range from weapon
"firing" (smashing/cutting with a club/sword) to
player/NPC animators.
-Skinners
---> We definatly need skinners who can give models a
photorealistic or surreal look.
-Sound artists
---> Sound artists will be assigned to the creation of
ambient sounds (rain, nature ambient etc.), weapon
sounds (sword slashing, crossbow firing, etc.) and
player/NPC sounds (footsteps, monster growling).
-Music composers
---> We need a few music composers who can create
atmospheric sounds for the mod. A few examples:
Tense music for in tense situations (being chased by
monsters), calming music for in safe locations (as in
a stronghold) and scary music for in scary locations
(dark cave, spooky forest).
-Voice actors
---> We will need a few individuals who can do clear
voice acting. This is required for the in-game NPC's.
We are "a bit" in need of the following:
-Mappers
---> Mappers will be assigned to create detailed worlds
for the modification.
If you think you can fill one of the above positions please
send an email to [email protected]. In this email you
should tell us why you think you're suitable for the job,
which position you can fill and how many years of experience
you have. Also you should show us some of your previous work.
Please do not put huge attachments in emails. Instead you
should upload them to your private webspace.
