Test Drive Unlimited - PC

I was thinking of buying it but it doesn't have realistic damage models. :(

Or any spectacular crashes at all really.

wow how come i havent heard anything about this game earlier? It looks like the racing game of all my dreams!!!!

Get Live for Speed if you want a PC racing game, Test Drive is pure shit on the 360 and PC

Ignore Dalamari. He has no friends, and probably doesnt even have test drive on the 360. It's great fun for cruising with friends, exploring a huge island, and swapping lovely cars. I've had about 60+ hours worth of fun from it, which sets it apart from all my other 360/PC games.

Besides, Test Drive Unlimited is absolutely miles apart from a racing simulator. TDU is all about fun, where as LiveForSpeed is all about simulation. LFS is track-based racing, and TDU is thousands of thousands of miles of open roads on Hawaii.

Besides, Live for Speed was an OK racing sim back in it's day, but now it's worn out and lacking. rFactor is a far better racing sim for the PC.

In summary, ignore Dalamari. Anyone that doesn't know the difference between a racing game and a racing simulator doesn't deserve to post on a gaming forum.

If you've got a console and you're in to racing simulators, pre-order your copy of Forza Motorsport 2 ... it's out in May.

I own TD:U and from the many hours I've played it I can say it's pure shit

They look like different racing games though...

TDU is more free-roaming, and LFS looks like it's all on a track.

Why does the bike pivot from the windshield and not the wheels?

rFactor's pants. LFS is by far the best sim out there.

Games like Test Drive and Need For Speed are racing series from the past that should just give up.

Test drive looks (from the low res vids I've seen) gorgeous, and I love games where you can just cruise. Now all we need is a game that lets you cruise with graphics like that, but also with police and stuff for if you break the law, that'd be awesome.

I hate LFS tbh, but I couldn't think of another PC racer worth getting so I recommended it

Personally, consoles are the only way to play racing games, pick up Forza at a Gamestop for $7 and have some fun

There is police and stuff in TD:U ;)

Apparently there is some nasty performance issues with the PC version even on good PCs. :(

I can't wait though, cruising will be ace, it's all about fun and speed. :D

Dalamari, can you go into detail why you dislike TDU? I've never played it and would like to hear your reasons for your view.

I'd probably buy this. If my graphics card wasn't gimped, and I had my new one installed.

Well, I beta tested it (lol fileplanet subscriber!!1) and, aside from the usual gay GETTING STUCK it was good. Unfortunately, the patcher was REALLY retarded and I never got to go online.
It's fine to cruise.

I m d/l this game as I type this post. LOL own3d.

Same here, heard it had performance issues so want to try it out singleplayer before splashing out ?30 on it.

The cars handle like some type of bargain bin kiddy game, I know it's a simulation and all, but PGR3 is an arcade type racer and the cars are done brilliantly in that, the graphics are very mediocre for a 360 title, there is TONS of land to drive on but it's all jungle and can be REALLLLLLLY boring to drive around in until you come up on a town with a dealership in it or something, there are tons of cars but since you can't tune them everybody only uses about 12 of them, the only fun thing about it would be cruising around in a classic car, but after awhile that will get boring and you'll end up playing a different game

All this does is make me want the new Grand Theft Auto.

HOLY SHIT THAT'S SO COOL!

The first vid takes place no more than a mile or so away from my house.

:D :D :D :D :D

Sadly, the area ingame looks NOTHING like the area in real life.

Well, at least the first half didn't. After he hit Makapuu, things started looking pretty real.

I want to get this game and so pwn you guys at cruising.

;)

Looks fun for a mess about 'driving' game, but yeah, Live For Speed is the best racing simulator for the PC
