Case anyone hasn't watched the news today...
http://www.texas-fire.com/

4 major fires within 20 minutes driving of my home. Sirens going off every 15 minutes.... Feels like I'm in a disaster flick and there's no relief (aka rain) in sight. My fiance knew the woman and child killed in East TX but not well...

waiting and seeing. No evacuation notice yet.

I have heard but been too busy to watch the news about this. Good luck and store water man, you'll probably need it

Obviously this is because God is upset with Rick Perry's homosexuality.

I thought they had a big pray festival which was supposed to solve this and get god to act.

Maybe Rick will die in a fire and not be able to run for president!

Hah, no ****ing way...

I've been hearing about the drought from my family in Houston, and have a few FB friends still living around Austin. It's pretty depressing. Last I read, the Bastrop fire is still at 0% containment.

MiccyNarc, hope things don't get worse where you're at.

Rick Perry in '09: "Let's get rid of FEMA, I know how to handle a natural disaster"
Rick Perry in '11: "HELP US FOR THE LOVE OF GOD"

I hate Rick Perry.

So far new fires springing up have been under control. Weird waking up to ash on my car though.

I estimate that you will need precisely the following number of buckets of water: A lot.

I hear local Police Chiefs are blaming the fire on fat black women.

or rick perry was upset about god's homosexuality:

Texas Gov. Rick Perry Cut Fire Department Funding by 75%

According to KVUE-TV, the state of Texas, under Gov. Rick Perry, cut state funding for the volunteer fire departments that protect most of the state from wildfires. Firefighters have actually been dipping into their own pockets to fight fires.

Volunteer departments that were already facing financial strain had their funding cut from $30 million to $7 million. There are 879 volunteer fire departments in Texas; 114 are paid fire departments, while 187 departments are a combination of volunteer and paid.

At a press conference Monday, Perry promised to seek federal disaster relief and said that FEMA would be in the state by Wednesday.
