TF2 And New Map Environments

The official Team Fortress 2 Blog has been updated with new screenshots from what looks like a new map?[br]

One of the things we're looking at for the next update is the creation of a new type of environment for our levels to be built in. We're pretty happy with the way our environments have turned out so far, but as we create more and more maps with these achievement packs, we want our level designers to have more to work with in terms of giving their settings a unique look.[br]

The challenging part of this type of design process is in finding types of terrain and structures that provide an understandable, interesting set of visuals and at the same time staying within the constraints of what we want to do with gameplay. In addition to this, we want to be able to stay within the strengths of the engine that TF is built around.

To be honest, those screenshots don't look all that different to the current sort of deserty/farm type thing.
 
thank god theyr changing setting! i was getting tired of the same desert place! but hopefully theyll change the weather.
 
It looks heavily industrial. Perhaps there will be some dynamic interaction within the rocket?

I think a corporate Red/Blu could be interesting.
 
Well is in more of a different setting than those screens. I want a city map, damnit!
 
It cannot be denied though that the current maps and environment is just stunning in TF2.

I can't wait for this, it will be v.interesting to see where they take it.
 
You know that is a pic with no textures/a different angle from some concept art before TF2 was released...
 
It looks like a thunderbird thing, with hidden rockets and vehicles and stuff

If by drivable vehicle you mean a "battle-segway" then yes... yes they do. Otherwise, the gameplay wouldn't really work with vehicles, its better suited to closer range.
 
Not if when you got in the vehicle changed for your class like in crackdown to have your classes weaponry.
 
those concepts look like more of the same 'spytech' stuff, which have been in all the maps save Goldrush really. Will be interested to see how they develop the storyline to include more environments.
 
The 'screenshots' are not from a new map. They are just concept art from early TF2 to show what the style of the game would be. Missiles and secret bases hidden using front businesses such as farms or factorys.
 
Flie is a GOLDEN example of the people who jump into a game half way through its lifetime.
Giving such suggestions and disregarding everything which made the game authentic in TFC; thinking "it's for the best".
 
Actually I just thought it would be fun mister blow stuff out of proportion.....

More achievements for TF2 HUH? WHat about CS Source??? You said like 2 years ago you would put acheivements in that.. I want my source achievements!!!:sniper:
 
Why do people want vehicles in TF2? It would make the speed differences between the classes completely unneccesary.
