TF2 Beta unlock time

Every Steam group I'm in has a full chatroom, excluding Facepunch (which I am banned from). I'm finding myself refreshing this thread every 10 seconds. I just can't wait! :bounce:

WTF, only 24 players? I'm not buying it now.

you kidding right? I think the maps are small, you'll see as much action as you would on a huge battlefield 2 map with 64 people, it's just condensed in tf. I hope at least. The new quake is only 32 players.

Well, it looks like this thread will reach 20 pages before the beta even comes out!

Dude... I was a hardcore TFC fan, and before that my favorite game was Quake 1 playing the ORIGINAL team fortress. What made it really special for me was all the stuff within but being able to do that with 32-64 players.

I mean damn... before this new TF2, TF2 was originally slated to have 64 players on certain maps.

I see with more and more games the emphasis is on better graphics but fewer players overall. I think exactly the opposite of that should be aimed towards.

I'll wager 30 pages. Whether you want the beta to come out or not, it will still take a very, very long time. This is Valve we are dealing with.

Edit: Damn this thread moves fast.

"We haven't released the depots that contain the Linux and Windows
binaries yet.

I will look into the issue of the update tool losing its connection, but
for now you should just retry until it completes. :(

The percentage complete is presently only good for comic relief. ;)"

-Mike Durand Valve Software

Well damn. At least when the binaries are released it will be a small download.

A very small, slow, and painful download with the best result ever lol.

I just heard from a reliable source that the beta will be unlocked at 6pm (19 minutes from now)

I wont trust that without a quote or source :p Too many rumors.

They should be out when the public(beta) release is out so keep checking.

I'd stop refreshing this page and do my homework, but, you know, my cat is sleeping on the backpack, and moving him would be mortal sin.

Still at work! I might make the RELEASE! WOOOOT!

youll lose your money that much faster then...

my money is on 11:59PST

Two minutes away (hopefully).

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee is right...

Guys - the Win32 nor the Linux ded server binaries have been made available yet.

So if it's released in 3 minutes, it means Valve expect users to host games, or there isn't going to be any servers.

The other alternative is that they release the binaries with the client unlock, but this would mean no servers until admins have time to launch them...

I have a feeling it's just not going to happen.

Give it another few hours.

6:00 PM PST and no realease...

I like how they said "Late in the day" well its well into the evening now and no release...

this is some BS... all those valve a-holes are probably at home watchin Darma and Greg right now knowing full well they werent able to get it out the door on the 17th but still feeding us that horse shiz anyways
