We are holding a tf2 modeling contest, to celebrate the announcement of team fortress 2. The goal of this contest is to model a character or an object from the tf2 universe in the current art style that valve has shown to the public. the contest starts today and will end on (TBA)

RULES:

Must model a character or object from the tf universe in new art style.
poly count must not go over the current standards of the source engine.

What are the standards of the source engine?
 
for weapons its 2000

If a model is being constructed using the XSI Mod Tool, the number of triangles in the model must be keep within export limits: 7500 triangles per enveloped mesh or character, or 4000 triangles for prop objects or meshes without skeletons.Characters are limited to 7500 polys. Models without skeletons are limited to 4000 polys.

I think that needs clarifying, If anyone models a character is it just a reinterpretation in the same style of what the TF2 classes are, or our own made up class in that style?

By 'objects' do we mean weapons aswell? tanks? etc

yes if you make a character you can make you own design but in that style, you can also model weapons tools and anything else in the tf2 universe.
