Just logged in and saw this douchbag tearing my fortress up! we need to kick him and revert to our latest save too. I hate ****ers like this! its my birthday too :(

Ooohoo boy, now who's friend is Dickie?

Doesn't seem like he's on the whitelist raz posted.

Is the whitelist not working?

Edit: Shit, it isn't.

Which is great, as I specifically remember Raz testing the whitelist, and it seemed to work when the server was first up.

The ****.

He had switched the server again after that to different hardware, and apparently the whitelist didn't follow. I am pissed man.

I'm sure he's going to be none too pleased about it either... but really I think we're done with this server if this can't be reverted to a previous backup. whitelist added again, and without the connection errors.

If this can't be solved very soon, I'm asking for a refund and we're going elsewhere.

Sorry for all the hosting situation has caused us everybody... I am beyond displeased.

Personally I like our new home. It's like living in some post apocalyptic future where we have to constantly fight off the obnoxious hordes :D

Lol. I was wondering what the **** happened to the spawn area. My area was spared. :3

That's because you built a ****ing half hour from spawn you hermit.

Had my estate and it's tree garden burned down. My tower, cabin and island treehouse are intact.

Looks like they restored the ORIGIONAL backup we send them, meaning any progress since the new server is not showing (my tunnel, glass ceiling, carved out ocean, artificial island, etc... ). I'm going to wait for Raziaar to give the green-light before building, but if they don't have a more recent backup, I say it's "game over" for mynecraft.com.

Hey man, leave us hermits alone! Afterall, we like to be... ummmm.... left alone.

It's definitely not the original backup, but it's a day or two old. Perhaps just before the new hardware? I have some changes I made since the new server, but not anything from yesterday at least.

Hmm... I can deal with it. How much work did everyone else lose?

Edit: Welp.

I lost a LOT of progress with the restore. If their backup system was working, they should have only had to rewind it a 2-3 hours from when the griefing was first noticed. I'm a little hesitant to start building again until the whitelist is working.... last thing I want to do is build the same thing 3 or more times.

Good god. My beautiful buildings :( What a ****ing dickbag.

I think it's time to switch servers. Seriously. Get a VPS so you can handle backups, config, etc yourself and not have to rely on someone else to do it. Having a whitelist is as simple as changing a value from false to true in server.properties and defining the whitelist itself.

The server is up. The world is restored, from which point I do not know. You guys were just discussing it. I mean, since the backup is restored a while back, some people have obviously lost some progress.

This is unfortunate. But it is not as unfortunate as the whole world being destroyed or the backup being restored to where it originally was once we took it off Hokey's server.

We have some options right now. Two that I see currently.

A: Mess around occasionally in the server without investing huge amounts of time or on huge projects right now and see how stable it is... if it remains stable with the whitelist intact without receiving the end of stream error... then we're golden.

B: Abandon the server right now, find another alternative which will probably yield some more downtime... and also having to revert the map back to where it was when we left Hokey's server.

I mean honestly, I want to do choice A. I think we've given Steve enough chances with his server... but it seems like it might finally be paying off. The problem with the griefer was an oversight and not a technical error. If the whitelist is intact now, and we don't experience any more crashes and days without hte server because of the connection error... then it should be smooth sailing and we'll be able to give Steve some time to continue improving his site and getting those features in that we've been needing most to manage the server ourself... including swapping out worlds, restoring backups and a lot of other cool things that I'm sold on, just frustrated I haven't seen implemented yet since I thought they already were.

I'll leave it up to you guys, but honestly after going this far with it, with the server up again with it seeming to have worked except for the whitelist oversight... I want to give it a shot. It might be fantastic for us, and this might be the break we've been waiting for.

And if it crashes again and we get the same dreaded problem we had before... I say we bail on this, get our refund and find something else.

The missing inventories, the construction project losses of the past couple days... we can get all that back, we can rebuild that stuff... we can spawn people the resources they need to get back to where we were initially. Epic structures take considerably less time when you don't have to work for the resources, and I propose for individuals who were affected tremendously in the rollback and are jaded about the situation like phantomdesign, should be compensated and helped rebuild what they had. We're not restricted here in what we have to do to get us back to a comfortable position where everybody is happy... we make the rules on the server... it's our server.

I just hope to ****ing something that the server stays stable from here on out... so we can be a quiet customer, no frustrations for us, no frustrations for the mynecraft.com people... and just operate normally.

Yeah I want to stay on mynecraft for the moment and hope it all stabilizes.

^ I think we should really give Steve a chance. He DID give us a free RAM upgrade did he not? From his e-mail you posted a while ago it sounds like he never expected this project to get so big, so I can understand if he has trouble keeping on top of the technical issues. If we stick with him, though the troubles like we have been doing, it could work out very nicely for us in the end.

It might be a similar situation to Notch's when Minecraft was just starting to explode and his servers had to be replaced because the couldn't handle the traffic. At the time Notch was just one man with a whole lot to do and so things took a while to get fixed.

But I also agree. If the issues persist for too long with not real indication of Steven trying to fix it we should get out and find a new home.

I mean just for the sheer frustrations and time consumption and sleep lost I've had dealing with all of this crap for the server... I want it to work out in the end... I don't want it to all be for nothing. This is why I'm rooting for option A. I want this to work... I want this last incarnation to be our magic ticket to normalcy.

What about epic excavations, HMM?

Have any of you done epic excavations in the past couple days?

Like I said, we can all work that out... get us to a point where we're comfortable. I would just ask that people don't exploit the nature of trying to get us to that point(yeah, I had excavated a circular whole 10 times the size of viperidae's hole!)

Well, talk about it... what should we do to get people back the changes they lost.

Whoa, this looks like a neat game. Too bad about that dickhead.

I'm okay with staying on Mynecraft and seeing how things pan out. It does seem like Steve (Steve? What kind of rapper name is Steve?) wants to help us work things out, and while we're all kind of nearing the end of our patience with this stuff, we should at least give it another shot so Raz's efforts haven't been for naught. That and, when the server has been working, it seems pretty good.

Well, talk about it... what should we do to get people back the changes they lost.
Dynamite? :P

What kind of excavation was it, exactly? I did some digging as well but, now that it's been undone, I'm kind of reconsidering it anyway...

How in the hell did that griefer get dynamite anyway?

I would be willing to have some TNT, even if I would have to be supervised with it. Better hurry though, I'm almost done digging the hole...

...to your heart <3
