that little tech demo in cs:s doesn't seem like much?

dunno, i have all my shit maxed out as far as humanly possible and i get 139 fps...doesn't really tax the system or look like much? is that only a little of what source can do or what?

You've answered your own question. It isn't a proper benchmark test. Just used to test out a few graphical effects in Source on your system.

The textures and model complexity in CS: Source is absolutely NO indication of Source's limits. So in response to your query, yes, that is only a very little bit of what it can do.

if its not a test then why does it ask u if u want to send ur results to valve?

It *is* a Half-Life 2 test... not Counter-Strike... and yes, that's as stressed as your computer will get.

It isn't a Half-Life 2 benchmarking tool. If you check the Valve Q & A thread, I had this question answered.

if thats true, this game was really meant for a year ago...

well what are the specs of your computer

Do you have it on maximum resolution, all high details, with full AA and AF?

yes aa and af maxed everything highest...a64 6800 gt 1024x768...maybe i should raise the rez...

couldnt have said it better myself.

VALVE said that they woudl release a video stress test for everyoen beofre HL2 was released, when do yall think this is coming out, because i dont want to drop 60$ till im sure my comp can run HL2 acceptably.

is it bad that your computer has high fps? shame on valve for doin a good job!! ;)

It's mainly just a test for shaders and effects it seems. More of a compatability test than a stress test.

no offense dude, but that is completely wrong. i'm too lazy to look it up now, but valve has stated that the stress test is not an accurate representation of hl2 the game. the stress test is nothing. hl2 is going to be fairly taxing on people's computers.

Your comp will get a lot more stressed then that test. I get 80 on that test and 20 fps in css both maxed out. hl2 battles outside chases. My ass thats as streesed it will get.

It's just a simple test...notice no physics or ai are being used in the test.

No, it's not representative of the game because HL2 is going to run better than that stress test.

And Raziel, I don't know what's going on with you, but I get much better FPS actually in-game...

dude, i'm sorry. you're completely wrong. i guess its pointless to try and tell someone something if they're not going to listen. HL2 is going to run at a much lower framerate than what people get in the stresstest.

I get about 40-70 fps in cs:s beta, 70 being at the max. In the stress test it was about 70. You get less fps when your acually in the game.
