Don't people take for granted everything they use on a day-to-day basis? Ask your friends how a personal computer works. Or how the Internet works.

The thing is I think no one can be really bothered, as long as they're OK with the fact that whatever they need, works when they need it. I think basic educational courses for the more important things (pcs, cars, etc.) wouldn't be a bad idea - but I doubt everyone would have a great interest for these things.

Sometimes. I think the initial concept of a semiconductor wasn't seen as a practical device. By the time transistors are born, they're seen as a marked improvement over the established technology of vacuum tubes, not necessarily a revolution unto themselves. I don't think the power of transistors (and their miniaturization) would really be realized until integrated circuits came about in the late '50s, which is where we begin to see electronic circuits as the foundation of much of our technology take off.

They realized that by making two point contacts very close to one another, they could make a three terminal device - the first "point contact" transistor.

They quickly made a few of these transistors and connected them with some other components to make an audio amplifier. As it is applied in electrical engineering perhaps. This numeral system is nothing new, and Boolean algebra precedes it. What you're talking about originated from such logic and is merely a model of it.

Why didn't God create the world in binary?

Problems would be solved, confusion would be eliminated, answers would be clear, people would be dead or alive, and there would be different tiers...

The advantage to a binary life would infinitely and unimaginably greater.
 
I don't know if that question is serious or not? Most think we now use the decimal system because of the amount of fingers we have. You want us to live as if we were all amputees?

No, I want a decision to be clear. A question to be answerable. No wishy-washy grey areas. No uncertainties. No middle-answer. No middle-ground. No, 50/50. Yes or No. We can count however we like. It wouldn't make much difference to us if we were taught to count in binary. We only find it difficult because we've been brought up with the decimal number system with denary characters. Sure, we'd use more paper, but at least there's a clear distinction between 1 and 0, and no-one would be saying, is that 696 or 969, or is that an 8 or a 0.

World hunger would no longer exist, and poverty would be useless. You'd either be dead or alive. The whole world would be so much simpler.
