Rules and Guidelines for the 1st Annual ZogDog Animation Contest
First and foremost, this is a competition of imagination and skill. The cash prize awarded ($100+ any donations) was merely offered because I wanted some monetary reward for the most creative and original work submitted. The contest starts from the 25th day of February 2006 until the 25th day of April 2006
Anyone wishing to enter must send zogdog an email stating their intent to participate and that they agree to the terms and conditions listed here. All entrance emails should be received no later then March 3rd to [email protected]
The rules, guidelines and general terms of agreement are as follows:
1. This contest is open to anyone wishing to participate. No purchase necessary to win. This is a solo artistic contest, should there be demand for a group class, ZogDog reserves the right to alter the rules to compensate.
2. This is an animation contest, so anything animated goes. 3D renders, Flash, Cartoons, Cell Shading, claymation and so forth. What is not considered acceptable would be a filmed short with live actors and surroundings, with no animation whatsoever. However, should you create a filmed short and through works of software, present the film in an altered/animated view, this will be acceptable. If an artist decides to do the latter, a sample of the concept must be submitted to ZogDog before final entry can be shown. This means, show me early so you aren't left with a finished product unacceptable for display.
3. There is no theme, per se, so anything goes, but contestants will avoid the following content or else they will be removed from the contest:
-Sexually related material
-Nudity
-Excessive cursing (this includes l337 curse words) both written and spoken
-Bashing (this means no harmful or discriminating bits about race, color, sex or religion. If there are questions about a bit, send a PM to ZogDog for approval)
-Drug references
4. All animated material must be the artists or groups work. Any discovery of plagiarized material will result in disqualification of the contest.
5. The animation shall be no shorter then forty-five seconds and no longer then 20 minutes. (anything outside of these parameters should be directed towards ZogDog for approval)
6. The final movie shall be in a format suitable for internet streaming as well as downloadable viewing. (avi, swf, mpg, mov and so forth)
7. All work must be compiled from the official start of the contest through it's end. You may not use past material as entry pieces for this contest. However, storyboards and ideas are not subject to these rules.
8. Music may be from any source and is not subject to the two month time frame. ZogDog holds no legal obligation to verify the source or legality of used music. This responsibility falls upon the artist and credit must be given to any unoriginal works. (i.e. if you use a John Williams piece, provide reference to him and his piece)
9. Any additional rules and/or guidelines may be added at any time, so be sure to check your Private Messages for updates as I will be sending an update to any participants.
10. All work submitted is copyright of it's respected owner. ZogDog reserves the right to publicize the contest in anyway shape or form he sees fit.
The rules and guidelines listed above (and any addendum's below) are an agreement the contestants have with the site and it's owner and must be accepted in order to enter the contest. All work submitted must contain copyright and ownership credits for legal reasons. Failure to provide adequate proof of ownership will result in the forfeit of the cash prize and any other rewards this contest may spawn.
Any questions or clarifications will be answered as an addendum to this agreement below. Updates are possible to the terms and conditions, be sure to check and see if at any time there are additions to the rules and guidelines.
