hehe, it was mentioned on the Simpsons tonight. What do you think? Isreal and Suadi arabia seem to have a unique relationship with the US ...do you think it's a healthy relationship or do you believe that support for rogue states leads to some pretty frightening enemies? (osama etc)

put a wall behind Turkey thats the only country thats halfway "normal" in that part of the World all those countrys Iran,Iraq,IsraeL(for me still Palastina) mean problems to the rest of the World

Haha since when is Israel a third world state, OR sponsored terrorism? Stern, did you just have a senior moment?

I concur! You gotta love it though

I don't because the topic becomes lost amongst personal attacks. On topic debate ceases after the second page it seems.

And I'm sure an avatar of a gun being held to the President's head will really help keep things under control. I dont see any bait there! Anyways, on with the show. I got my popcorn ready.

jeebus you guys have a one track mind ...notice not one of you mentioned that saudi arabia doesnt fit the criteria either :)

oh and try not to be so literal

I'm telling you, I saw it on the news. Even once, on this European music show, where people call to vote for their favourites stars Israel was there...

I never said I liked Saudi Arabia either.

Explain how I could have taken your quote less literally. You talk like the so called educated islamo-fascist who sometimes comes to my work and debates with me. ISRAEL IS THE DEVIL, ISRAEL IS THE TERRORIST, ISRAEL THIS. Whew find some new rhetoric.

Yeah Im a little confused how even if you didnt take it literally (even though you have to because its a damn definition) how Israel would still be a Rogue whatever. Israel kicks ass, your just jealous lol. But seriously, Israel doesnt sponsor terrorism and is not a 3rd world state. Hell in some aspects they have better technology than the US.

The IDF is one of the best military forces in the world.
Israel manufactors some of the best weapons in the world. (In my opinion: IMI Galil IMI Desert Eagle.)

Israel breaks more UN rules then Iraq for all I know
blowin up people in a wheel chair with a Helicopter is stupid to btw Israel doesnt deserve the soil they live on they stole it

I would have to agree with this, the Jews did kick the Arabs out of their home, with a little help from Britain and the West in the 40's, so the Arabs should be pissed off. Israel also breaks a lot of the UN human rights laws as well, they do have nuclear weapons, but then aren't a third world country.

So the argument is, can Israel, with not being a third world country, still be classified as a rogue state such as North Korea? But then, wouldn't Pakistan also be a rogue nation, it is a third world country and it has wmd?

Too a point Stern, i agree with you about Israel, Israel and America are very closely tied together and very buddy buddy, however, Saudi Arabia isn't and never will be as close to America as Israel is though.

Israelian economy is basically funded by American Jews. It's sad really. Now, they've actually got some free market going on, etc. but in the beggining it was no different (or even worse) than the PLO.

Why must a "rogue state" be a third world nation? Sounds like hypocritical capitalist elitism to me.

Because stupidly rich countries harbouring multi-national conglomerates rarely see the need to undermine their own economic links to their neighbours. But if you're incredibly poor and you've little hope of changing that, chances are the people of the country- and even the respective governments- will decide they've got nothing to lose.

It'd be bad for business if you started dubbing your superpower associates/competitors "rogue states". Hasn't stopped anyone before, mind...

People? People like Sheik Ahmed Yassin you mean. Good riddance, in fact they should fire a couple of hellfires at you for supporting him.

I am not sure what he ment was what i ment but from what i ment, both Israel and the Palestinian terrorists are as bad as each other. The Palestinian's were kicked out of their own country, rejected by a lot of the other Arab nations and are now forced to squat in a country that used to be theirs. They deserve their own nation, but they have done far more harm then good by getting by murdering little children when their terrorist bombers jump on school buses and blow everyone up. I have always been a believer that a government should be completely seperate from religion, if they aren't, it causes huge problems, for example, Israel, Afghanistan (during the rule of the Taliban), Iraq (with Saddam's rule), Saudi Arabia, and also America to a lesser extent.

it's funny how the tone of the first half of this thread is completely different than the second half ...hmmm I wonder if it has anything to do with timezone :) I can always count on you brits/europeans to add to the topic instead of the usual over the top scrutiny I receive from members south of the border

South of the border, how far south do you mean ;).

Anyway, you should know by now that us Brits are far to reserved to go on a slagging match and flame war around the internet over such trivial matters such as international politics..

Despite all the Israel hate here, I don't got anything major against Israel, even though they've handled a lot of situations bad (and Sharon is probably very corrupt too). As for Saudi Arabia I'm shocked that the US supports them. They are the terrorists, their government supports terrorism, they have almost no civil rights for women, and still the US supports them. That's beyond me.

How do they support terrorists, it seems their security forces are actively fightering against Al Quada?

They don't support it officially, of course, but it's quite obvious. They got millions of oil money uncounted for and terrorists are living in the country without the government doing anything. Besides, it's a dictarship that suppress its people, and isn't that reason enough not to support them?

well there is some evidence that the government does fund terrorism ..at least indirectly:

“.....found no evidence that the Saudi government as an institution or senior
Saudi officials individually funded [Al Qaeda].” The report also states, however, that
Saudi Arabia “was a place where Al Qaeda raised money directly from individuals
and through charities,” and indicates that “charities with significant Saudi
government sponsorship” may have diverted funding to Al Qaeda.

source

well at least "officially"

...but that doesnt discount the nature of saudi arabia as a terrorist state, that coupled with it's deplorable human rights abuses, draconian woman's rights issues and the fact that they are the most fundamentalist state in the region makes one wonder if there's actually any merit to the "war on terror" or if it's just smoke and mirros as I suspect

btw here's a good interview with Noam chomsky on the nature of Israels state terror

I was thinking just now how amusing it would of been if Saddam had been seen to support America's war on terrorism, could Bush still have labeled him part of the "Axis Of Evil".

he would have been referred to "freedom loving Saddam" and "Papa Saddam terrorist eradicator and all around good guy"

I've had this avatar for a week or so and you're the first one to say anything about it. Its never been the topic for debate on this board. My avatar has nothing to do with changing the attitude or outcome of a thread.

you mean "key to the city of detroit for donating millions to the catholic church there saddam" hehe
