this movie is unbelievable...sadly i didn't read the book first, actually i didn't even know it existed till today.

this movie is almost perfect...it has so little if any of the "**** that is annoying/stupid" moments.

most (modern) modern movies have some scene like. "oh look...there's fire, lets go throw ourselves on and see what happens" or "the murderer went in that scary dark room...let's go inside individually to see what happens" or "the results show this substance will kill you instantly if it comes in contact...let's fill it in a thin glass jar and give it to a man with Parkinson's disease"

i'd be hard pressed to find a modern competitor to this movie.

Um yeah, I'm a big fan of Chricton and Andromeda Strain was the first book I ever read by him (one of the first sci-fi books I ever read, actually) and I absolutely loved it. So naturally I rented the movie not long after reading it, and yeah it's a pretty solid adaptation and a pretty good movie overall, if I recall. Good, straight forward, sci-fi suspense mystery story.

I haven't seen the movie but I just recently read the book. I'm not the type of person who needs constant explosions and shiny things to keep my attention but I found it to be extremely dry reading. Nothing much happens thru so much of the book that it felt like I was reading a chemistry book at times. Next to no character development doesn't help either. I did enjoy how the facility was described and the ending where everything comes together was cool as well. Overall tho I was disappointed.
