The best half life 2 site out there , check it out

Yeah it would be even better if it fit my whole IE (I know... I need Opera :( ) window. Plus there is no content. But it does look pretty and cool.
 
Not quite the best HL2 site out there me thinks...
Looks nice, just throw in some HL2 oriented crap and you'll be set.
 
i dont like the thing at the top very much and i dont like the font u used to write HALF LIFE ... just use the original Half life 2 font ... then it will rock :p
 
Yeah if HL2.net used that sort of setup Valve would always comment here because our site looks "perdier" than HL2fallout's. :p
 
halflife2.net always has the information i need, and the forums members i love and trust.

never use flash to make full sites it doesnt work and cuts out a large audience.

make them in HTML or XML have little flash segments but nothing major

Or at least have a flash-free alternative available.
 
yup you're losing alot of audience with that whole HIGH TECH flash scene you cool kids have nowadays :afro: :dork:

Clearly it states where I'm from... look above the post count and below the join date... somewhere in the middle you will find my location... but you have to look really hard (try squinting if all else fails). :D

the love is there, but theres no execution... the pop ups are blocked in firefox, the hit box around the text links arent made properly... thats all i noticed b4 i closed it :upstare:

Well, seeing as how the judgment of whether your site is the "best" is completely subjective, and considering the fact that you have zero content nor do you actually have a "site" at all (i.e. not properly hosted), I think it's fair to say -- subjectively -- you have one of the worst sites out there.

Maybe you should have said something like, "Hey guys, what do you think of my layout? Not much is done but the initial design but this is where I'm going with it." Otherwise you might invite ridicule and scorn. :|
 
well the layout isn't bad, just need to work on the buttons man. looks like you used the text as the hit state. try using a rectangle instead :)
 
It's a pretty crappy design. Just 'cause it's flash animated doesn't make it a good site, if anything the flash site shows the creator's inability to use the software effectively even in a basic way. The buttons have holes that could be easily fixed with an invisible "over state". The menu, and interface is not well thought out at all either. And the graphics used such as the HL2 logo are pixelated and appear to be low res'd bitmap images. In my opinion flash is a tool designed to engage with the user in a variety of ways that HTML can't, I reckon the creator should think about that, instead of designing a site that's animated for the sake of animation. And that's my two cents.

Trust is a different question. I trust the guys with 'Halflife2.net staff' under their name, and also a few of the other users.

the flash works is ok, the menu is too basic, the colours [too much orange], content area is too small [height], the text needs to be fixed [aa?] etc..

Seriously, though. If you want some constructive criticism, try not to overuse translucency. You want your site to be clear and easy to read, so don't dilute the colors with too much translucency. But not too bad for a beginner.
